BF-679F FitScan Body Fat / Body Water Monitor With Athlete Mode

Well hallelujah! After 3 failed attempts to get a digital scale that worked (see my earlier reviews of other products), this one came and worked right out of the box! I don't know if it's accurate but at least it's consistent so I can track my ups and downs (hopefully more downs than ups!). Set up wasn't intuitive but not bad and at least it worked!One tiny point: the manual is written is a light blue (why???) and tells you about a bar that appears on the bottom of the screen that tells you whether you are under, good, over or obese in fat content. Then in tiny lighter blue type it tells you if you select "athletic" you won't get this black bar at all. Why? Who knows. But I was about to call them to find out why I didn't have it. So..if you want it, don't select athletic.I really wanted a body analysis scale that tracked fat, muscle, bone and water but apparently that's too much to ask and I am satisfied with this.

If you are looking for a scale to track across your ups and downs and progress, this one will work fine. It’s easy to program, easy to use, and will tell you variances from day to day. But it is not accurate. Especially in Body Fat percentage. This is almost 8% lower than a true DEXA scan. Makes you feel good looking at it, but it is only good for tracking progress. Not actually knowing the facts.

We got this as a replacement for an aging Tanita scale that was starting to get a little flaky - it would occasionally decide to give our weight in British stones instead of just pounds. We didn't need a scale with 47 body measurements that required cloud connection to a phone or computer to tell you how healthy or unhealthy you are - just weight and body fat is enough. This model is identical to the BF680W that costs more with one significant difference - in the small print you will find, "FITSCAN SERIES BY TANITA ARE MANUFACTURED EXCLUSIVELY FOR NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA [...and] INCLUDE GRAVITATIONAL ALGORITHM CORRECTION FOR THE AMERICAS. MODELS FROM EUROPE OR ASIA DO NOT HAVE THE SAME ACCURACY AS THE FITSCAN SERIES FOR CONSUMERS USING THESE SCALES IN THE AMERICAS. "If you can't find it on Amazon, you can find it on the Tanita website under the factory outlet link. It is the same supplier that provides the scale through Amazon and at the same price.

Seems to work well, but the body fat percentage is 10% higher than my 10 year old Tanita it replaced. No idea which unit is the most accurate. But my guess is this new one should be ore accurate due to updated electronics.

First scale that I have found.. that gives you the same answer when you step back on it after weighing yourself. And I love that it answers to the tenth of a pound.. This is actually the second one I bought.. the first one, I kept.. this one is a gift.

This is my 2nd Tanita, the first was the UM-081 which I'm a big fan of. It calibrates consistently and it's accurate (I have a balanced doctors scale and access to expensive digital scales so I know when scales are accurate).I wanted a 2nd scale, I wanted a Tanita since I was happy with the first one and figured this would be accurate like my other Tanita. It is not.I get bad readings and I get inconsistent readings. If I move this scale and my other Tanita to other parts of the house and let them recalibrate and check my weight. I get different readings on this scale (and the same reading on my UM-081)Unfortunately, at the same time I bought this scale a friend of mine asked me to recommend a scale, I said Tanita, he bought the same scale and he's also having the same issues that I mentioned.So far my emails to Tanita have been ignored, I called them and then told me to call competitive edge who told me to call tanita again so this scale will be garbage. I asked if I could send this back in for another UM-081 (which costs the same)

The scale is ok but after paying $17 for the shipping I expected that at least they respected the delivery time while instead it took far too long.
