This is a good bulb - pay attention to the wattage
For some reason many 3-way lamps are not made to use the 50-100-150 light bulb, which I find annoying because I like good bright light. I have used this bulb for years because I like the full-spectrum light it gives. I have found it to last for months or even more than a year with regular use. I actually came back to this site looking for the 30-70-100 watt version which is what more of my lamps use and it doesn't seem to be available anymore. I try to use LED bulbs but for many situations the light is just not as good - they still need work. I would like to add for the people who are finding that the bulb is only giving one level of light - that light bulb is BROKEN! Get your money back. These bulbs usually do have one filament that burns out first and then you have a one way bulb but I find a use for that until it's all burned out. Also, look to see what wattage your lamp takes - many, if not most 3-ways do not use this wattage and it can be dangerous to use them in those lamps.

Broken Item
The bulb does not work. It came on for a moment and then burned out. I did not try to use it until after the Amazon return window closed so I am very disappointed. I have used this bulb in the past when they still sold it in health stores and loved the lighting quality.

Mood Booster in a Bulb
This bulb is a lifesaver. My office is cave-like and windowless, and it had been taking a toll on my energy, mental health, and sleeping habits. I bought this bulb with some trepidation after reading the mixed reviews (it's a lot of money to spend if the bulb is going to blow out one week in), and have had it in my desk lamp for about two months now with no issues. As some reviewers have mentioned (here and in reviews for other Lumiram bulbs on Amazon), the bulb does tend to get a bit hot, but it's not noticeable to me until I go to turn the lamp off at the end of the day - it doesn't seem to make much of an impact on my overall office temperature. In terms of its ability to alleviate the issues I'd been experiencing last winter, the bulb has performed very well. Two days after sticking it in the lamp, I had more energy and was less grumpy (to the point that some of my coworkers noticed and commented on it). I don't think it did much for the sleeping issues, but two out of three ain't bad. I liked this bulb so much that I bought others for four other lamps - another in my office, and three more at home. I don't notice the effect as much anymore, but the grumpiness and fatigue don't seem to have returned. To me, that means this bulb has done what it claims to do, and I don't think I can ask for anything more than that. If you're having problems with SAD and/or just have a dreary windowless office like mine, you should seriously consider getting one (or more) of these bulbs. I have no idea how they do it, but they work well for their stated purpose!

It's 100-50-150 instead of 50-100-150?
I used to buy these at local nutrition coop. I like them for reading. This one is different in that the first setting is the middle setting, then the low, then the high. Not really a problem but takes some getting used to.

Great Full-Spectrum Bulb
My doctor recommended that I use full spectrum lighting for SAD (Seasonal Affective Depression) in the winter and in the summer when there is so much shade that I get very little sunlight in my little below ground apartment. I found this three-way bulb that I can use in a 3-way lamp I got at a yard sale and it works so well without the glare like florescent lighting I had with a special lamp previously. I use it in the morning when I go online to check my email. But I can use it in the evening as well without any problems sleeping at night. I am on my second bulb and am thoroughly pleased with it! UPDATE : October 1, 2016 After reading problems that some people encountered with short life bulb I just had to write that I am still on my second bulb which has lasted since April. The apartment was very dark this summer because this summer the trees were very shady. (seemed to be larger tree leaves). I don't remember when I purchased the first bulb but I used this a lot during the summer. It is the main source of light in my apartment so it was on even when I was in another part of the apartment so there were days when I had it turned on from the time I got up in the morning until going to bed. I am sure it is working with my antidepressants but I have never felt better.

Great bulb - if it works!
I needed two of the 3-way incandescent bulbs and these sounded perfect. The reviews were so mixed on them actually working that I bought 3 so Iโd have an extra on standby. Upon receipt, I tested them & all three worked perfectly- yay! Ironically as soon as the return window closed, one bulb burned out on the initial setting. Within a week the next setting burned out. Glad I have the 3rd bulb on standby as I likely will need it soon. I give 3 stars for a great bulb concept and it initially working. However, I can only give 3 stars due to quality and life of the product. I believe it should work significantly longer than a few weeks.

Both Bulbs Dead
I reordered this item. The 2 bulbs were 3-way but did not work. I tested the lamp with an old 3-way bulb I had from same maker and it worked in the outlet. So the new bulbs are defective a second time and I returned them. May order from a different supplier because I need these bulbs and like the type of light they offer.

Same old great full spectrum bulb.
I found a couple of these Chromalux Full Spectrum bulbs in a box of stuff recently, I'd bought them 3 decades ago or so. One of them worked. So I bought another one. I put one each where my sig. other reads - one in the living room and one on her night table. She commented the other day, "I can read my books now without turning another light on !" Yup, they work. You really notice the difference in light, much "smoother" no harshness. I had looked at the LED variety but one commenter said the LED's have a little way to go to match the incandescents, so I went with what I knew worked. I had originally got them for the "Dark Time of year" daylight savings end until the first snow when the sunsets are 4:13 in the north Northeast but the sun goes behind the mountain at 3. I don't get SAD -Seasonal Affective Disorder, but I do feel the difference with less daylight. Full spectrum bulbs really help.
