So far I absolutely love it. I did it when it was a little bit too cold but it still worked out fine. I was amazed at how tough it is when I was sanding to add a 3rd coat. The clean up was ok for a natural Bristle brush in thinner. It says xylene but I just used regular paint thinner and it did ok. I got it on my skin and it was a nightmare to get off and I had to wear off most of it. I will update my review after I have had some time to see what it does and how long its gona last. I also used black industrial enamel as a top coat.

I used this stuff on the rusty floorboards of my 76 GMC Pickup. I went through a learning curve as it is a very unique product. I read all the instructions. One thing I had to deal with not in the instructions was the sweltering heat and humidity we've been having lately here in East Tennessee. The product is ideal for rusty surfaces. The first coat soaks in the metal and actually strengthens it, so by the time you put on the second coat you've got a thicker sealed rust resistant piece of metal. I gave it a 4 star for 2 reasons, the price seems to be somewhat expensive compared to all the rust converters and primers, second the product itself, it has a short shelf life. I had some repairs to make before the main job and had trouble later on getting the lid off the can as this stuff acted like glue and almost bonded the lid on. I wound up pouring it into plastic containers with screw caps like vitamins would come in & even then it started to get hard and thick on top, so I wound up putting plastic wrap under the lid, putting the lid on tight and keeping it in the refrigerator. So I would recommend using it another time of the year when it's not so sweltering. So it's best to just open the can and use it immediately for your project. I should have ordered a smaller can to make the repairs before opening the main container. The first time I made the mistake of not wearing gloves & it took several days for it to come off & you've got to be careful to not get it on your car seats, etc so cover stuff with plastic or a tarp etc.. I would use some kind of solvent like acetone to clean drips up etc. This stuff seems to really bond to metal as a drop got on a pair of scissors and would not come off. So I think this is an ideal product for some projects like restoring an old rusty car or some metal objects exposed outdoors to the elements.

I love this product. I had no trouble whatsoever in opening the can. It comes with three little metal clips on the lid that you have to pry off. I used a small flathead screwdriver. After that, I just pried open the lid like any can of paint. Totally easy. I used this stuff to paint some rusty places underneath my car. (Be sure NOT to shake the can to mix the paint! Stir it with a popsicle stick, or whatever.) Painted one coat and waited overnight. I am impressed at how good it looks, with just one coat. I painted over some pretty bad rusty spots, and it adhered really well. Looks great actually. A bonus is that the color is almost identical to the color of my car. My only wish is that I had known how well it covers. I should have gotten the 4 ounce can. But since I have the large can, I plan to paint everything rusty under the can that I can reach, and give it all numerous coats. Even so, I will have alot left over. But, it is worth the $35 I paid, just to get everything done. With 5 or 6 coats, this stuff should be bullet proof, if the first coat is any indication. I live in Maine, so we will see how well the paint holds up under a Maine winter and the major road salt we live with. For now, I'm very happy with the product.

This is the best stuff I've found to prevent or treat metal with rust. I try to treat any rusty areas with the Rust Blast first, which really removes the rust, but this paint also inhibits the growth of existing rust if painted over. There are a few tips that I need to share with potential users of this product. The metallic grey is more silver than grey and it's thicker than the black. It needs less coats than the black, but may require a longer cure time. Also, these paints take a long time to dry, or cure. In other words, don't touch it even after it's sitting it the sun for an hour. Give it time to dry. Additionally, don't get this pain on your hands. This stuff sticks to anything and is very difficult to remove, especially fingers. Wear gloves. And finally, since this stuff dries like a weld, getting this pain on the rim of the can will eventually make it almost impossible to open the lid again. Thus the smaller can are great. I am going to try transferring the contents into a screw-top canister and see if it works better, but I suspect it will only work if I keep the pain off of the rim. Hard to do if you shake it up to mix the paint first. Having said that, with a few precautions, this stuff is like painting a layer of armor over any metal surface. Rust can't grow if it can't breath. Highly recommended, but watch out for the welded lid syndrome which is practically impossible to open.

I was going through my Amazon items and noticed this product I bought a few years ago. I clicked on it and it had no reviews. Couldn't believe it. So I figured I put something even though I applied my Rust Bullet a few years ago. I had some rust issues on the rear of my 99 4-runner. Looked like the previous owner had dropped a boat/jetski many times without washing the salt out afterwards. The last 3-4 feet on the truck were in sad shape. I went to town with hand/elec. wire brushes and knocked all the loose stuff off. Cleaned it up real nice and painted this stuff on. YOU DO NOT WANT TO BREATHE THIS STUFF. I bought a full NIOSH mask for like $30-40. You can still smell the Rust Bullet and get lightheaded through the mask. Again it's a very potent product. The thick paint goes on real nice and the silver color makes it easy to see your work. I think I only used the 1 set for the entire rear end. I hit some other spots on the vehicle as well. After it was all dry I just used some nice flat black rust spray paint for that last extra layer of protection and of course to make it black. This stuff is really nice, it's like liquid metal. I still have the truck 3-4 years since I did this and it still looks the same. I would use this again, probably with a better mask and have a fan blowing directly at me. I dnt thank it effcted my brane cells thogh. haha
