I had tried a bamboo mat in the past but never quite got the knack of it. I found watching a couple YouTube vids to learn some techniques coupled with using this mat helped make rolling our favorite sushi very easy. It’s easy to clean, has small unobtrusive nubs on one side that helped me grip it a little easier while rolling. IMO it also seems more sanitary than the bamboo mats. Wish I had known about this sooner, we plan on enjoying more sushi at home now.

How to fix broken strings
After months of using it the string broke but unlike other reviews who said theirs broke, what I did was used a fishing line and weaved it back to normal. It works even better than it did before cause I can control how tight I want it. Worth the money and now I don’t need 2 Makisu made of bamboo for my restaurants. I had one with plastic and one without and this does the job from switching.

Durable And Worth The Money
Love this brand. Their products are always very durable as long as you make sure to keep your knife away from the fishing line -esque threads. I've seen the hasagawa rolling mats come undone when a thread gets broken but I have personally never had any issues. I've had my mat for 3 months now and use it 5 days a week consistently, and as I have said I have no issues. I love the color and it was definitely worth the price! Highly recommend.
