What is the diameter of the wooden handle? Trying to figure out if I can extend it because I’m tall.

It’s about an inch in diameter. But this hoe is really tall. The handle is 60” ( five feet) plus you get another 4 inches or so from the cutting blade. It’s made long so you have a good reach away from the body for a more efficient hoeing action. This is truly an industrially built hoe. There’s nothing cheap or skimpy about it.

Can you scrape away grass?

Possibly yes, if the roots aren’t too deep. It would be very difficult if the ground is too compact. Works best in previously tilled dirt.

Is it possible to buy replacement blades?

Struggling with hairy bitter cress weeds and clover. Very bad back Looking for weeding solution in mulched beds with no bending. Good solution?

I think the hoe would work fine for those, it does a great job in my garden beds, but you might want to consider a small power tiller if you have a bad back and a large area. Then you could just rake or handpick the weeds from the tilled soil.
