Well I put it together as in the instructions and tried a test run with just water. I couldn't get the pump to squirt anything into the vapouriser at all and was on the verge of sending it back. Then I took off the nozzle and wand and put my finger over the stub hole and operated the lever again. This time it pushed air out past my finger and when the lever was released it sucked water from the supply cylinder and after a few goes started to function. So you've got to prime the pump first!Then I live tested it with the flame on and it worked. I swapped the water for the Oxalic acid/IPA mix and headed out round my apiaries. It works well although the flame sometimes fails in a cross wind and you get flames all around the cage. Not a big problem and easily managed with a bit of experience. I did find that the vapour leaked out around the thread that joins the wand to the vapouriser and will put some PTFE tape on it next time to seal this joint. The vapouriser remains hot for quite a while, something to watch out for if moving between apiaries in a vehicle.It sounds like I've written a lot about the few drawbacks I've encountered. So let me say that on the positive side, you can get round ten hive apiaries very quickly and effectively with this tool and I was able to comfortably visit a treat all my apiaries in an afternoon. When I got back, I tipped the remaining treatment fluid back into its mixed bottle and put about 100ml of clean water through the steam system to try and clean out any residue. I think you will find this a useful addition to the Beekeepers toolkit but, like any tool, be prepared to spend a little time learning how to make it work and use it effectively.
