Wow, what a tale! It is a story of ultimate innocences, abandonment, and courage to overcome the worse possible adversities. I worked with women who had been abused and abandoned as Isabel had been. She captures their feeling of absolute hopelessness . When I would ask these women why they stayed under such circumstances. They would say things like I didn't know what else to do, I couldn't support the children alone, or worse felt they probably deserve their misery. Isabel experienced all these feelings, but overcame them for the sake of her children. Most woman wouldn't have quite as many male admirers to help as she, but none the less when you don't have a choice you do what you need to do. This is a story any woman who is being abused should read. Yes, there can be a better life!Jane Yanagi

Sadly hasn't been updated since 2008, and the way Lonely Planet are moving, there's not much chance of ever seeing a new edition. But even ten years later it still makes a good companion to a country few people visit. Accurate, thorough and very readable. Makes you wonder where Lonely Planet started to go wrong.

LP wird mangels Nachfrage demnächst sicher keine aktuelle Auflage dieses Buches herausbringen, aber bis auf derzeit wesentlich größere Einschränkungen durch die angespannte Sicherheitslage (die Busfahrt im Konvoi auf dem KKH dauert fast doppelt so lange wie bei Erscheinungsdatum des Buches 2008) sind fast alle Angaben nach wie vor aktuell, auch die Preise sind, wenn man in Dollar rechnet weitestgehend noch aktuell. Ein qualitativ sehr guter LP.

どう米国の対テロ戦争が影響したか定かでないが、カラコルム・ハイヴェー（KKH）は、昔から人気の高い中国からパキスタンに抜ける国境の道である。7000m級の絶景を望みながら、4600mのKhunjerab峠を通過し、オアシス都市カシュガルからフンザへの道を再度訪れるため本書を手にした。しかし最新版は2008年出版であり、パキスタンを襲った2010年の大洪水以降がフォローされていない。2012年1月25日現在、KKHは12月31日から5月1日まで公式には閉鎖されるとのことだが、特別な許可証を持つ地域住民は、その期間も国境を通過することができるという真偽不明の情報もある。正確な最新情報がほしかった。
