Earthgro 72451180 Potting Soil, 1-Cubic-Foot

Earthgro potting soil delivered to your front door is great. The potting soil is alright but seems to be suitable for established plants or bulbs.

I took a risk and bought 2 large bags (2 cu. feet). When I opened the first one, I immediately regretted my choice. The quality of the soil was terribly lacking. I thought the weight per cubic foot was a bit high, but then I noticed all the rocks and clay clumps and it all added up. I've had to spend extra time getting the abundant amount of sticks, high number of rocks / stones and numerous clumps of clay sorted out each time I've tried to pot. After 2 containers I've decided to hold off and toss these bags.I'm sorry Mr. FedEx guy, you'll be lugging another two bags of Miracle-Gro up to my apartment next week...This is a great pick if you're looking to fill a hole. If you're looking to grow something, I would suck up the extra few dollars and go with a higher quality brand.

I used this as a filler in my yard for some low spots. I really loved it. It really helped the grass to grow in quickly over the low spots.

soooooooo got this, and had plans to mix with some other dirts and stuff to grow hot peppers indoors. I did not open the bag when I bought it because it wasn't time to mix everything to transfer my indoor plants to their bigger pots. Well, we kept finding these little black flying bugs everywhere for weeks in our home. We checked everything else and couldn't figure out where they were coming from, there were HUNDREDS! Went to move the bag from where it was sitting in the room and I noticed quite a few of them on the bag. Turns out, they were all coming from inside the dirt, escaping and spread throughout the entire apartment.We never stored the bag outside and the only time it was exposed to the outdoors was when it was shipped. It is now sitting out on my deck, unusable for what I had planned.

I use this as a filler in my soil mix; it's a great buy for the price. (I paid 2.98 per bag in oct. '14)

There was too much junk like rocks and sticks in it for my liking.

some of the "hot" soils with nutrients can be too harsh on seedlings this seems to work ok as a starting soil.

This is not potting soil. It has next to no drainage and packs hard like a brick. Any plants you put in it will be waterlogged and suffocated. If you can return it, do it and pay a bit extra for the more respected brand name potting soils. If you are stuck with an open bag, mix it in with your garden soil, but do NOT use it for potted plants or you will kill them.
