Brain Candy
A couple of decades ago I was going through a murder mystery reading phase. I consumed everything by Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh, McCall Smith, Hammett, Chandler, Crais, and dozens of others. I still pick up a mystery every now and then, especially when I want to read something light. They are my guilty pleasure of reading. I'm especially fond of mysteries that have a geographic connection to my life.Tahoe Night, by Todd Borg, fits the Tahoe venue. And boy, Borg's books are definitely guilty pleasures. You have to suspend reality and just go with the flow because there are so many moments you want to say, "Yeah, right, like that's ever going to happen..." The format is predictable: single ex-cop becomes private investigator with pretty girl friend on the side. He's tough, brave, independent, respected by his peers, but likes to break the rules to get things done. Borg has added another touch that makes me smile: the detective also has a huge Great Dane named Spot. Hard not to like a detective with a big dog. Especially in Tahoe. The plot doesn't matter here. It's not particular believable anyway. The whole point is to just enjoy some lightweight mystery and bask in guilty pleasure. If you want to kick back and relax with a fun book, this would be a good one to choose.

TODD BORG CONTINES TO ENTERTAIN AND ENLIGHTEN!
The roller coaster mysteries continue for Owen McKenna and his wonderful huge dog, Spot. This is one of my favorite of the books so far. I am constantly impressed with the research that author Todd Borg puts into his mysteries. The spotlight in this one is art - fine art, creating art, forgery of art, death for art. The depth of research is quite amazing and lends more quality to a good mystery. The action is nonstop, and dangerous, as usual for Owen and Spot. As one can almost expent, the twist at the ending is quite unexpected, yet fills in all the blanks. A good series and one this reader thoroughly enjoys.

Getting ready for our first trip to Lake Tahoe!
This is a great read and a wonderful way to prepare for a trip to Lake Tahoe. The book is a page turner and the setting is extraordinary. I had a map handy on my iPad so I could visualize every location.

Up all night reading
If you know the Tahoe/Reno area at all, you will love this series of books. Lake Tahoe is like another character in the books. I have to be careful to not stay up all night reading. Todd Borg is one of my favorite authors.

Does not disappoint
Great adventure just like Todd Borg’s other books. Fun, interesting, keeps you on the edge of your seat. Borg always teaches new things as he entertains.

Maybe the best one yet!
I have read the Tahoe books this far in order. I am pacing myself because I know eventually I will run out and that will be very disappointing. This one may be the best one yet, but I have loved each one. I especially love how Spot is one of the main characters, not just an afterthought. I got to meet a spotted great dane at the Aces game in the grassy area last summer and I was so thrilled.

Another great story in the Tahoe series.
Another great story in the Tahoe series. You don't have to read them in order as each book is self-contained, although there are references back to previous books, but that would not distract from the current story if you hadn't read the earlier ones. The favorite characters are back in the interesting local of Lake Tahoe. And of course the background star is Spot the dog, who always helps out with the case and provides comic relief during some of the heavier moments. I'm moving on to the next book already and intend on reading the complete series. Excellent stories by a great writer - you'll enjoy them.
