Must Read Mystery Series
My wife and I read a lot of books. We discovered the Tahoe Series by Todd Borg this summer while vacationing in Incline Village and fell in love with the series. We bought the first 2 books in Truckee read them in a couple of days and had to go back for more. I just finished Tahoe Heat and I think it is one of my favorites so far.Borg writes with a wonderful blend of mystery, humanity and humor. His characters are rich and memorable. His vivid descriptions of his dog, Spot, are priceless. Each book also adds an in depth explanation of a facet of Tahoe or science or history or art or all them that is rich with detail yet easily understandable while also helping to unravel the mystery of the story.I have been to Tahoe probably 50 or 60 times yet I am still amazed when he describes something about the this beautiful American treasure that I was unaware of.Just ordered 4 more books and can't wait to read them.

3 1/2 really
This is the 8th one in the series, and while full of adventure, danger, action interesting tidbits of info about the Tahoe area, I felt this one was not up to the previous 7. Sort of spoiler alert, he introduces a few too many characters and in the end the killer was one of the characters I could not even remember him mentioning.I am trying to skim the 321 pages to see if I can find any reference at all to that person. It must be there, but felt because of this "twist" that really had no hints dropped along the way it just was not quite as good as the previous and hopefully the remaining books in the series. I am still a fan and just ordered the 9th one.

Masterfully done, really enjoyed it!
My wife and I read Todd Borg's books aloud together. It's like watching a movie together, with the obvious benefits of being a book such as reading even when the power is out ;-)This installment didn't disappoint. I think the books get better as time goes by, while my wife disagrees and things they're all fantastic. She is good at figuring out 'whodunnit' most of the time, but not with Borg's well written mysteries. We live in the Pacific Northwest now, but spent most of our lives in the Reno/Tahoe area and just love seeing our favorite areas highlighted. This particular book opens up at one of our favorite locals beaches in Tahoe where we've spent many hours with Cave Rock in plain view.We also enjoyed seeing all of Owens friends, not the least of which, Spot! If you've ever had the privilege of spending lots of time with a Harlequin Great Dane, you'll know that Borg writes Spot accurately and with every bit of accurate detail. Spot that makes me laugh every time. Those dogs really are great and his good writing represents them accurately and with a lot of obvious love for the breed. In this book, I was shocked at how well Borg writes little kids! My wife and I just loved getting to know Lily.Overall we really enjoyed the book and have two more on hand to read, and at least one more to catch up on ;)

Love this series
Being from the area where the author writes, makes these books really fun. Love the characters and reading them is like revisiting old friends as you get to know the characters

Todd Borg delivers again
Number 8 in this series of mystery thrillers set in the Tahoe basin, featuring Owen McKenna as an ex-cop private investigator with his harlequin great dane, Spot, as a sidekick. I enjoy the Tahoe setting, as I am a frequent visitor to the area, and Mr. Borg does an excellent job of describing the many outdoor wonders found there. The protagonist characters in his books are immensely likeable, and by book #8 have become dear friends. The plot in this book, like previous offerings, meanders and at times almost stalls, but in the end comes to a satisfactory conclusion. I have to admit I am hooked, and will likely continue to book #9 and beyond...

Must read series!
Tod Borg is a master storyteller and wordsmith that keeps you enthralled and guessing up until the very end. Tahoe is one of the great loves of my life, and this author’s reverence for this beautiful place and knowledge of its people and history makes his books a must read.

Tahoe Heat (An Owen McKenna Mystery Thriller Book...
Borg likes to use some of my favorite settings in and around Lake Tahoe as the backdrop for most of his books. This book is no exception except he writes like Reno to Tahoe is just around the corner when in fact it is a long drive. This book is no exception with his great connections with unknown characters tied to his standing list including Street, Diamond and of course "large one" his loyal and faithful Harlequin great Dane companion like Tonto and the lone ranger. I would have given this book a 4 star but his explanation of how a piano tuner could insert a code by detuning a piano is bizarre. There is no way anyone could have set up a series of discords in the lower portion of a scale to produce a discord translated electronically into a code spelling out a clue would never happen in the short time given. The human ear just isn't that precise.Yes it is possible given considerable time, equipment and the right instrument in about a week under perfect conditions. In the end it didn't make any difference anyway as the bad guy is always caught in the Borg books. L Lee Parmeter Author
