the first time I used one of the two probes I bought, the cable came out of the probe. it wasn't crimped enough to keep the cable attached. Lucky for me I was able to gently push the cable back into the probe and it seems to work just fine. These probes can be a little more durable, but then they probably wouldn't be so "cost effective" to replace.

We grill a lot of fish in the summer, and lamb and beef during the winter. When grilling an expensive cut of meat, a Prime tenderloin for example, preserving the meat quality is imperative. A remote reading thermometer makes possible temperature monitoring while continuing to entertain guests. Here in Alaska, it's also often more comfortable to be inside rather than outside.This is my 3rd time replacing the probes on my thermometer. So far these have been working perfectly. I have high hopes they will outlast my previous ones

I attempted to use these probes to keep temperature on a Sous Vide (food is vacuumed sealed and underwater). The probe was pushed through the top of the meat and rose up out of the water - so it wasn't fully submerged. While testing the probes in open air, it accurately read the room temperature. During the beginning half of the cook, the probes were doing their job however by the end of the 4 hour cook, they were 50 degrees off from actual temp. According to the images on the product, these should be waterproof anyways. I pulled the probes, dried them off and tried them the next day and they were reading 50 degrees above room temperature. I have replacements coming and I will try again and adjust rating based on that.
