Excellent history and marvelous photos!
Typical of most Signal Publications regarding the organization and content, this book excels in the photography department. As a long-time aviation buff and private pilot, this book has it all. All models and variations are covered, the line drawings well executed, and of course the centerfold color illustrations are great for modelers. A rousing "two thumbs up" for this volume. Five stars.

Awesome
The Mig-21 was a magnificent fighter for its time, equal to the F-4 Phantom in a dogfight at only 1/3 the cost. At the time (1970) the Fishbed was less expensive than the Soviet BMP armored personnel carrier, primarily because the jet was all aluminum and the BMP had expensive armor plating. While the Mig was short-range, in the hands of American pilots it beat anything we had at the time. For those interested in aviation art, please check out my new book: Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson, available on amazon.com

Excellent Study of Famous Soviet Fighter
This is an excellent, concise review of one of the best and most famous of all Soviet fighter jets. The development, deployment and different versions are all captured here with short narrative, tons of clear Black and White Photos. Line drawings show the different varients and the plane progressed.Built/designed in the 1960's, the Mig-21 was a supersonic fighter that fought everywhere in the cold war and was built in larger numbers than other US jets. As it developed from fighter to fighter bomber, reconnaisance airplane, dozens of nations bought it and fought with it, most famously perhaps in the Arab- Israeli wars.It was small, fast, cheap to build and a worthy opponent to US designs. This is a great book for modelers and aviation enthusiasts who want to explore Soviet aviation history. It has plenty of detail and color plates to show camoflague colors, I recommend it. For a short history of this plane, this is an excellent buy.
