MASALONG Big Claw Survaval Outdoor Hunting Knife AUS8 steel blade

This knife arrived exactly 2 days after placing the order. By no fault of the seller, which included a paracord bracelet in the package, the clip for the duty belt doesn't accomodate for the duty belt I originally intended it for. No worries, as it's never a bad thing to have "too much" gear. I was skeptical about it at first but the quality is great. It's heavy in your hand so there's no way to forget it's there. The kydex sheath it came with HOLDS THE BLADE IN THE SHEATH TIGHTLY EVEN WHEN HOLDING THE SHEATH AND THROWING YOUR ARM DOWN TO THE GROUND. The knife won't slide out. It actually takes a good amount of force to even pull it from it's sheath so if you're attaching it to a duty belt, you'll know if it gets touched. I'll be buying a few other Karambits from this seller as I like this one already. OH! It comes out of the box pretty sharp. As it's a fighting knife... That's not a bad thing.

First off it's an ugly karambit, just my opinion but it fits perfectly in my hand, I don't have to worry about it possibly grabbing the bottom meat of my hand, it's hefty in a good way, the back...chisels/ serrations make it even meaner, this my 2nd of my 3 masalongs and they are a great company, I love the quality control, I love how things come packaged and I love the kydex sheaths.

This is one of the few real Karambits I have seen that wasn't over $100 (except cold steels which is way too big). It really fits my larger than average hand. The ring hole is actually in the right place. Most you see have hole in line with rest of handle. The biggest reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it is really heavy for a Karambit and it's double edged. This can make the knife dangerous to use and illegal to carry in most areas. I dulled the back edge, but it still has a saw tooth back. The sheath is very good quality. The belt clip is the same as on some gun holsters. It is easy to change the carry to a reverse grip, which is the usual way a Karembit is used. If it doesn't seem to fit a wider belt, you can remove the spacers inside clip. Steel is very good, really holds a nice edge.

I own several Karambit knives and this has quickly become my favorite knife.It moves so smoothly in my hands.I have only gotten bit once..lol..all my fault.Good steel good edge,the back edge is perfect for joint control,or if uses in a whipping motion would leave some very nasty wounds..tried it out on a canvas bag of rice and it quickly destroyed the bag.It is a lrg knife but it carries well.I am truthfully trying to figure out a way right now where the back of the blade does not chew you and or your clothes up..I teach ' knife skills ' and have given this high marks anyone willing to properly learn how to use the knife will be glade they bought it..I consider Masalong a premium knife.

I like that itd sturdy and basically a velociraptor for a cheaper price th the knife I got the rivets were unfinished and so that tells me quality control is not masalongs priority

They blade is huge and thick, however it does not want to come out of the sheath I have been yanking on it ferociously to get it out, on about the 50th time it finally loosened up to come out now with a very hard yank. So not great for life saving deployment but blade is exceptional for the money. I imagine it will get better over time but really wished it was not such a tight fit. Thought of returning it but kept it because the blade is so great.

I am changing my review from 4 stars to zero if I could...I am very disappointed..I ordered my first one a while ago and was so happy with it that I ordered another one to make a pair ..I knew there would be slight differences but I didn't expect this!!! The second one that I got did not have a finished edge, the blade is considerably thinner and the finger hole is alot smaller and looks to be unfinished as well and as a bonus the rivets in the handle are unfinished and sharp .the fit into the kydex sheath is also very loose dulling the blade . I plan to return this and never buy from mesalong again..the first step and most important in my opinion as becoming a recognized knife maker is QUALITY CONTROL.. I'm very disappointed

I've bought plenty of knives in my time, and I was left speechless when I saw this blade in person!!! It is extremely sharp right out of the box, which I was ecstatic about, has great balance, and some heft to it! The weight is nothing bad, if anything it feels substantial enough to last a long, long time! The kydex sheath looks and feels fantastic, but some reviews have said otherwise, so we'll see!
