Super Cute Children's Book!
Every week I purchase one of the books from this series and send it to my friend to share with her young daughter. They enjoy the books and look for them to arrive! Great books. Great stories that are fun and age appropriate!

enjoyable even for a kid who doesn't know what a "fashionista" is
My kid and I enjoyed getting to see some more of Yasmin's family, as her grandparents babysit for an evening. My kid isn't really familiar with the fashionista concept yet, so this was a somewhat confusing story; but in many ways, it was a great book to introduce the idea! On a meta level, I enjoyed the medley of stereotype-disrupting images here. Especially the elderly, plump Nani's happy participation in modeling, waving her hands "like a queen". And also Yasmin asking about whether her parents' brought back dessert for her as soon as her fashion show was over! One of the things I appreciate about this whole series is the intersectionality, with details like Yasmin's grandfather being matter-of-factly illustrated in a wheelchair.I did have some questions about how many grandparents it takes to change a sewing machine needle. (Apparently two, and apparently it takes them a pretty long time. My kid questioned this, too. But I love thinking of in-world explanations, so: Maybe Nani is just learning how to sew? Or maybe Nani's hands are getting a bit shaky these days, so she's teaching Nana how to change a needle for the first time? Maybe they got distracted chatting about something else? Maybe they'd misplaced the extra needles? Maybe...?)

Fun Story with Great Illustrations!
Yasmin is a charming, realistic role model for girls. My daughter loves the Yasmin series so much, we may buy multiple copies and begin giving them as birthday party gifts.
