The Practical Sanskrit English Dictionary. Compact Edition 2005

My three stars for this dictionary have more to do with the construction of book itself as well as the size and clarity of the type. I need a magnifying lens to be able to decipher the text. The backing is a flimsy cardboard that causes me to doubt how long will be the useful life of such a reference. It is covered with a slip-on plastic that was already showing signs of wear when it arrived.As far as the usefulness of the dictionary itself, I will know more as I learn to better use it. My sanskrit study is only about three years old at this point. Vocabulary and searching for meanings of same is an on-going challenge.

My title says the 2 main issues, and as well, some pages are slightly side ways, some are darker than others...but I still value this dictionary to my sanskrit study. I've been in the Sanskrit Studies immersion level 1 for 6 months and I can easily work with it. I will need to buy a covering that will solididy the exterior and by a magnifying lens.

Comprehensive Sanskrit dictionary. I replaced the abridged version with this. Invaluable tool for Sanskrit students.

The content looks amazing but the sanskrit words are not romanfied as in words like samsara, sattivic, puja etc. Only the explanation is in English. I require a book that romanises the words so I can get a deeper meaning - as I don't read sanskrit. Pity.

Inexpensive reprint of a very useful Sanskrit dictionary

Excellent dictionary for the advanced translator of Sanskrit. I have been reading Chapters 47 to 63 (so far) of Mahabharata's Bhishma Parva with the help of this dictionary and found every word I did not know in this dictionary. Portable in spite of its bulk.

It contains all relevant features but since the font size is tiny, too small the words cannot be read without a magnifying glass.

Able to find most of the words ... as I said Most of the words... could not find some .. with number of pages in the dictionary, My expectation was higher ..
