The colors are wonderful and vibrant and they re-wet easily without flaking. The prush pens leave something to be desired and I no longer use them, but the price for the paint color variety alone was worth it!

Recently ordered this set with so many colors! Never used Grabie products before. The palette is beautiful and The set performed great! I was so happy to see how pigmented the colors were and no chalky feel! I'm hoping to do a little plein air painting this year and it's definitely a nice size for that! And there was a waterbrush, a sponge, a pencil and a sharpener! Perfect! Plus I got their watercolor paper as a bonus! Couldn't be happier!

This is a review of the Grabie 50 Colors Watercolor Paint Set, Detail Paint Brush Included. Pros: Convenient portable tin, excellent pigments, many basic artists' shades like umber, ochre, ultramarine, the included brushes are good synthetic beginner brushes, includes a water pen and a small sponge. Cons: Pans are smallish and are not removable, the choices of greens are somewhat odd, mixing wells with corners and steep walls are not my favorite as they are hard to clean. Overall this is my choice for an absolute beginner wanting to try watercolor. All you need to add is some cold-press paper or a watercolor journal. I have been working my way through Karen Rice's landscape minis with them and they perform really well. It's also nicely portable, self-contained in its little latching tin. I will probably remove the styrene lid insert and just use the lid of the tin for mixing. The included brushes were a nice surprise. They hold a point well and have enough belly to dry brush.

I have found this kit to be extremely enjoyable and easy to use. I really loved the swatch paper, and I think this product could be improved by adding a few printed image coloring sheets, to practice playing with the brushes. Maybe developing an additional product to teach beginning skills of watercolor. It comes with a plastic divider to help separate the two sides of color which I thought was a nice touch. It’s a metal box that feels like the size of a pencil case but the sturdiness of a metal lunch box. Holds up well in my book bag with lots of journals, laptop, lunchbox, etc. from what I’ve used so far it seems to work very well for the cost. I love the diversity of colors and the metallic ones too! I always wait for colors to dry before closing the case so I’m not sure if it leaks or not. Might need to wipe down the colors of loose moisture for traveling artists, but that’s not something I’ve tried before. I hope this helps!

I got the Grabie 100 Colors Watercolor Paint Set and I’m really impressed. The colors lay down beautifully—vibrant and smooth—and the pigmentation is solid, which makes blending and layering a lot easier. I’ve tried a few watercolor sets before, and this one feels like a step up. Even the lighter shades show up nicely on the paper, and it’s easy to get the tones I want without having to double up. For anyone who enjoys experimenting with color or just wants a big range without constantly mixing, this set is perfect. Overall, it’s fun to use, versatile, and the colors really pop the way I was hoping. Definitely one of my favorite watercolor sets so far.
