Wonderful, Well-made, Darling
This book was a gift for my best friend who is an avid letter writer and collector. Not only is this book absolutely darling, but it houses a wealth of quirky quotes, beautiful letters, and helpful advice. Definitely an eclectic, fun gift or a great addition to your coffee table or book shelf! Also, a great conversation starter. Worth the price! Shipping was just a bit slow, but worth it as well.

Dimmer
It appears that the dinner doesn't turn all the way off but it does. If the lights are on for an extended period of time the filament will glow even when the power is completely off. This is a good unit.

A simple book on letters
This book looks at letter-writing, providing a very short history of letters and the mail. It provides some good advice on writing specific kinds of letters and some examples of letters from the past. While somewhat useful and entertaining, it is hardly a thorough guide for letter-writing. More of a trivia book.

Very well done.
This book represents letter writing through historical reference in a very nice way. The different historical figures that are mentioned made me want to read on and on. I hope she would write another book on letter writing.

Book not what I thought
I was disappointed in this book as it was not helpful in letter- writing or the history of letter-writing. Very shallow and dull.

Interesting history & background
A nice little volume giving nice advice and a short "potted" history of the art of correspondence. It took me just over an hour to read, so don't feel you need to plough through pages of academic discussion. Just the the thing for a 3pm Sunday afternoon read before teatime!

Timeless
A counter balance to the digital revolution. No problems with modern technology, but letter writing is still relevant. And it will still be relevant when today's technology is history because of the pace of change. MP

Very thin
Very little content. Almost nothing about what makes a good letter, and less useful than debretts on etiquette. People who haven't heard of the Penny Black might find the history section interesting. Letters from the dying are very sad, but stripped of all context they feel like voyeurism.

Wonderful
Liz William has a wonderful way, to gather informations and put them in a book in such a way that you just can't stop reading. This book about letter writing is very interesting, gives a lot of tips and "how to-s" and has many wonderful examples of letters in it. It's so inspiring and if you ever feel at loss about how to write for example thank you notes, you can look it up there.I never got bored reading it!
