Strong Is the New Pretty: A Guided Journal for Girls

A wonderful guided journal for a young girl. I bought this for an at-risk student I mentor along with the book. She LOVES filling out the pages and has a BIG smile on her face as she fills it out. She is in 5th grade and in need of acquiring a growth mindset of which this leads her to do.

I have purchased this journal three times, for a seven, ten, and nine year old. It is a great guided journal which does more than ask questions, it asks children to get up and use their minds. It teaches self reflection and encourages imagination and dreaming. I definitely recommend this book for all younger girls, for the age bracket, I would say reading age-15 which is beyond the suggested range.

Kudos to the authors of this book and accompanying journal! I purchased these to get ideas on working with students, however, my own teenage daughter loved it as well! I encourage everyone with pre-teen and teen young ladies to get these books for them. It is uplifting, reflective, and walks young ladies through positive steps of how to love themselves unconditionally!

Super excited to find this journal! Took daughter to the books author signing a few years ago & it remains on our coffee table for times we need to reference the amazing messages while my daughter develops into her own person! Now this journal will help too!

Purchasing gifts for grandchildren can be hit or miss. Turns out my 11 year old granddaughter loves this journal and is using it to express herself. I have another granddaughter who turns 12 soon. She already loves journaling so I’m confident she will derive value from the book and journal as well.

My daughter loves how pretty this book is, and how "her" it is. It's not stereotype "girly" but still demonstrates beauty, elegance, and quality. She enjoys sitting down to write in it during a quiet moment. It offers thoughtful reflections and plenty of space for response/freewriting throughout.

I bought this for my 9 year old granddaughter. Her Mom and I have been reading it with her. She is a very pretty little girl but the book reinforces what we have been saying to her for years: strength (physical, moral, intellectual) is the key to happiness.

Bought this for my 7 year old for Christmas & it has been amazing as a way to open conversations and to reinforce her sense of who she is. I love the fact that none of it plays to stereotypes of any "type" of girl but encourages girls to be whoever they want to be - princess, fairy, explorer, footballer, superhero - everything. Our favourite page is the mirror writing one - stand in front of the mirror & say / shout what you see :)
