Organic and flavoursome
Disclosure. This is a review of a product I was sent for free via Vine. All opinions are my own. I chose this product as I regularly sprinkle about 1/4 tsp ground sumac as a seasoning on my salads. This is a generous-size packet of 190g plus it is organic too. And the packaging indicates it was awarded a star in the 2025 great taste awards. I am pleased to say not only did it live up to my expectations, with a great flavour and colour, but it exceeded them. It was more flavoursome than what I usually can find via the supermarket. The only slight negative is that it comes in a resealable plastic pouch. I would much prefer a glass jar, as I usually tend to find that reseal functionality tends to degrade over time for storing powders. Too soon to know if this will be the case with this. Best before date is Sep 2027. Packet suggests some other culinary uses besides salads but I haven't tried these ideas yet. Packaging also states not suitable for those with a nut allergy. I assume this must be due to other products from the same factory, as I believe sumac comes from a berry, not a nut.

Lovely Sumac, but pricey. 🙃
This is a 190g pack of organic ground sumac. I use sumac in some of my cooking, in particular Middle Eastern foods. I cook with it and also use it to sprinkle on top of foods. It is a very versatile spice. This Everyday Superfood sumac has a lovely flavour. It tastes nice in my food. The quality is good and it is ground nice. It mixes into my food well. It has a lovely fresh smell. I like the aroma. The colour is a nice red. I like the packaging that the sumac is in. It is resealable and I think it keeps the contents fresh. I think that this is a little pricey. The current cost is £16.95. I think that is too pricey for only 190g. I can get good quality Sumac a lot cheaper than that. Apart from the price, I am happy with it. ☺️

So good!
The colour of this sumac is deep red, and the flavour actually comes through properly; it's sharp, lemony, and slightly fruity. There's so much more going on than with the stuff I've tried from supermarkets, which tend to err on the side of stale and dusty. Good sumac should have a tangy vibrancy to it, and this organic one from Everyday Superfood certainly does. Although it's quite expensive, once you open it, you'll see, smell, and taste the difference in quality. As well as using sumac on fattoush (the best salad ever, IMO!), I find that it's fantastic on grilled meats (especially lamb, where it cuts right through any greasiness). Mixed with some Greek yoghurt, it makes a great calorie-friendly dressing for falafels, too. A little of this spice goes a long way, so the pouch will last quite a while. It's definitely one of the spices I would recommend everyone have to hand in their kitchen.

A good tasting well certified sumac
The Everyday Superfood’s ground Sumac arrives in a useful ziplock bag. Printed on the bag were logos that certify the product as vegan, organic and kosher. I could not find the Halal certification. On opening the packet the colour is a deep red (a good indicator of freshness and polyphenol density), the grind was uneven and ‘gritty” and and the aroma is citrus-tannic — slightly astringent. It appears fresh as there is no flat, dusty smell that often signals stale stock. Having said that I could not find a best before date or an expiry or manufacturing date printed on the packet. Sumac is made from the dried, ground berries of the Rhus coriaria shrub. A little salt is used in the grinding process but the best Sumac has only a trace of salt - which is true for this preparation. It is the combination of malic and citric acids, which makes it a more complex souring agent than lemon juice in cooked dishes, I used it over hummus to add a complex tartness to the dish. Not sure if I would consider it a superfood but it does have high fibre and the flavonoids may have some antioxidant/anti-inflammatory activity. Overall this is a good tasting well certified sumac that I am happy I ordered and pleased to recommend.

Expensive but worth it
I'm a big fan of sumac using it often for kebabs but mainly for adding to Greek salad. At first glance I thought this was overpriced and thought I would be arguing nice but not worth it, but in truth it's much nicer than the standard supermarket stuff - the flavour is just stronger without being overpowering. From that perspective I would definitely recommend it especially for salad, perhaps less so as a cooking ingredient.

Beautiul taste and organic. A lot of fun to eat.
This SUMAC is really vivid and bright in in its lemony taste. I find it far more flavorful than others I have tried. It is organic which maters to me. I do not know how much the berries are normally sprayed but I love it that its organic. I like the slightly gritty texture too, It is really THERE in the dish ..Subtle but there. Yes it is a more expensive on but the organic status and the bright , clean fresh taste make it worth that for me. I have used it in numerous dishes and all tasted great. I think its strength, and it has many, is to brighten up vegetables and their sauces. I do love it on lamb ,too .. bit on veggies and in dressings it is a must have. It makes food very interesting and people love the dishes I have made. Certified Organic & Independently Tested – Unlike many conventional spices, our organic sumac is rigorously tested for pesticide residues and certified compliant with strict organic standards, giving you peace of mind with every sprinkle. All together I find it excellent and good value. I do not like these pouches. But this one sells well enough. Delicious spices. I am very pleassed with it and getting more creative every day.

High Fibre
a large bag 190g of Everyday Superfood branded organic ground Sumac - a dried berry. There are small flakes as wells as finer powder in this pack. The colour is a good red/orange. It has a subtle flavour, slightly tart. There is no particular scent. Quite a bit is needed. This product did not agree with my digestion.
