Intermod on receive is terrible
Driving from San Jose to Southern California, the transmitter works well. Difficult to see the small screen with 4 frequencies on it. The receiver seems to pick up the programmed repeaters just fine, but when there was no signal, the receiver opens squelch (even on maximum) and delivers loud audio from out of band signals. At one point, some police frequencies. It is so annoying that I can not listen while the wife is in the car. Some frequencies remained quiet, but this is happening on several 2 meter frequencies, depending on what area I was in.Was unable to get programming to work with Chirp with cable that I bought for this unit.Good in an emergency for a cheap radio, but annoying for routine listening.

It works well.
Very satisfied with the radio. It works well. The knobs and buttons function nicely. The power output is accurate. It's simple to program with chirp and I love the display! I use 2 meter, 220 (1.25m) and 440 (70cm) but most other quad band radios come with 6, 10, 2 and 440. I never use 6 or 10 FM. For the price of around $89.00 it's a fun new back up radio that works. What In don't like about it so far is the front end overloads easily. I pick up harmonics and or bleed over from who knows where. I fixed most of that by using a tone squelch PL. The model # on the radio says MT-225E But the display on power on says MT-250E, not sure why. Maybe something to do with the Gen 2?

Great value- worth buying
Great value on this radio! The performance on 220mhz is better than my Yaesu, and this has a very good mic as well. Small enough to mount two of them in my Honda Civic if I wanted to.

High quality Three band radio at a great price.
Great radio does everything as advertised. It has a lot packed into one small package.

Clicking sound
Does anyone know why I hear a clicking noise in the radio when it is turned on but idle ? No noise when scanning.

Good for the price.
Takes a masters degree to program it. Get the Software. No other real way. I notice that the front end of the receiver is often overwhelmed. Some stations seem to come through with bad audio quality while others are just fine. Since the signals are off the same repeater, I cannot explain it. It sounds like overmodulation or front end overload. But for the price it works. Once programmed it is a good cheap radio.

Use chirp software to program radio
Good radio small for how much power it puts out

Would be a great set & good value if not for the quirks & annoyances!
I have this a couple of weeks now & I really wanted this radio to work out since I bought this in addition to TYT quad with different freqs which has been VG so far. This unit has some problems & quirks so far & I don't think I'm keeping it. First there's the known problem of the 1.25m band relay click which I understand can't be avoided due to the limitations of the set, but when it's in TMR mode & one of the freqs is a 1.25m band freq the relay hammers away & the set sorta seems like it's going nuts so if You use TMR function You can't incorporate the 1.25m band. Besides that problem there's a problem of noise when scanning the memory channels, it may be described by others as a click, tisk, honk or buzz as it passes most memory channels, even If they are all in the same band(not the relay click). I have spent countless hours with researching & programming all the different settings & nothing eliminates these problems. Ive spent so much time on those problems I haven't had enough time to put the transmitting portion of the set through the rigors. I have tried to contact QYT directly in hopes of some info or an upcoming firmware update but no response. This set would be a great buy at the price I paid but if it comes with these problems it would have to cost a lot less for Me to be happy with it.If something changes by the time I decide to return it I will update this review.
