well made, great price
These are very nice short wooden perches. They were bought to replace the plastic perches that are used in canary breeding cages. In use, those look uncomfortable, and they cause the bird's feet to remain too tightly closed IMO. I now use these perches along with small wooden dowels in another diameter and some varying diameter curvey shaped perches for further choice. I have kept parrots, macaws, cockatoos, toucans, lories and finches in my very long life, varying perch sizes are a must for healthy birds. I can't completely replicate nature for my trio of canaries, but I can offer them the comfort of perch choice. The other advantage to offering these short perches is that each bird has more room in his cage, and is able to fly unobstructed by large perches.

Strong but short 5" wooden perch
Well, each perch only comes with one metal washer when each perch needs 2 metal washers to clamp securely on the cage bars. I guess I will buy the 5 metal washers these perches need at Lowe's.Strong but short 5" wooden perch. You clamp to the cage bars on the sides of the cage with a washer, wing-nut, and the bolt that is embedded in the perch parallel. It's the right size for an Indian Ringneck or Cockatiel. A bit thick for smaller birds but they can still use them.I bought to free up more space in their decent sized cages so they can take a (very) short flight occasionally without perches & other things in the way.I will be ordering more.

>>> DOES THE JOB, but not for parrots
> Well constructed, easy to install.> Soft wood will not last long with parrots or any other chewing pet.> Good size (length). Note that most cages are not strong enough for similar but longer perches (that are secured at only one end) --- the longer perches will wobble too much with any movement your bird makes.> Perfect aside water food and water dishes, or perhaps hanging toys.NOT FOR PARROTS -- except as chew toys.> My little Senegal completely destroyed the first one within a half-hour. I was hoping for perhaps a week each.> Unfortunately, truly hardwood perches are very hard to find. In my experience, the easiest solution is to purchase hardwood dowels from Home Depot (or a similar source) and make your own.> Alternatively, you can make perches from any non-poisonous hardwood branches. How do you know whether branches are poisonous or not? The simplest answer is to use fruit tree branches. That does not guarantee that the wood will be hard enough to resist parrots. Oak branches, available almost anywhere are also non-poisonous. In my case, I have access to tropical hardwood branches which are so hard that my parrots cannot even scratch them.

I’d prefer to give it like a 2.5
* If your cage has bar spacing larger than 1/2 inch you’ll need bigger washers*I bought these for my pet rats who are in a double critter nation, didn’t realize the perches are too small and only came with 1 washer each, had to grab some bigger washers to attach them to the cage. Also 3 of the metal screws have fallen out of the wood dowels so I had to super glue them back in. But other than that they do what they’re supposed to. I wouldn’t recommend them for any larger/heavier animals as they’re sturdy enough for my smaller female rats or like parakeets and cockatoos but wouldn’t be sturdy enough for like larger male rats or large birds.

Nice Perch
Purchased the wooden perch for my cockatiel. Very well made. No problems attaching it to the cage. Took out the old worn out plastic one and replaced it with the wooden one. My bird jumped right on it. Liked that I can put sand paper on it. Came with 5 - which is nice. Would reorder if I ever have to.

Nice and quick easy perches.
Very easy to install and take off as well. I installed some extra perches for my budgies when they bickered and these were perfect as they didn't take up a lot of space. My babies get along much better with more places to perch.
