AGATHA CHRISTIE
another agatha christie novel that i read here a person is shot dead the convict with a pistol in hand is standing on the spot but no one is ready to believe that she killed the victim, as the convict is a very meek and dumb and humble wife of the victim. now it is upto hercule poirot to find the real murderer. this is again a trademark agatha christie which will make you feel goosebumps.

Not one of Christie’s best works
Wow I found the book very dull certainly one of Christie’s most average work. The plot seemed very convulated . Poirot had mighty little to ,he appears only sporadically and we are devoid of his usual brilliance. All and all a disappointing read

WHO KILLED JOHN CHRISTOW?
‘The Hollow,’ first published in 1946, is Agatha Christie’s twenty-first novel featuring her famous Belgian detective Hercule Poirot. The plot is quite simple. Sir Henry and Lady Angkatell are hosting a weekend party at their country estate and they have invited their neighbour, Hercule Poirot, to join them for lunch. More than a hundred pages into the story, M. Poirot arrives at 'The Hollow' to find one of the guests lying face down near the swimming pool, with a middle-aged woman holding a revolver standing beside him. Poirot’s first thought was that it was a “highly artificial murder scene,” but he soon realized that “it was not red paint dripping off the edge of the concrete, it was blood.” The victim is Dr John Christow, a well-known doctor with the reputation of being a ladies’ man, while the apparent killer is his long-suffering wife Gerda. There are many twists and turns before Poirot arrives at the truth, though his role appears to be insignificant for much of the book. This book begins with slow introductions to a large cast of characters – most of whom belong to the Angkatell clan, while the others are connected with them in some way. The endogamic Angkatells appear to be an “odious family” as one of the characters puts it, but there are undercurrents which are not apparent till the end of the book. The paperback edition of this book is 384 pages long, probably one of the longest Poirot novels. Christie writes in her usual simple style, but with a few memorable passages, e.g. “Who was it who had said that the real tragedy of life was that you got what you wanted?” While Christie says in her autobiography that she ruined this novel by introducing Poirot into it, this book is highly appreciated by literary critics nowadays. Read it to decide for yourself!
