Quality vent: perfect for our metal roof installation!
We are DIYers and involved in a MAJOR whole-home renovation project! When it was time to install the stove vent penetration in the metal roof, this was the vent we chose. After a few online YouTube videos, we used scrap metal roof material and practiced our installation prior to the "real thing" and everything worked perfectly! Our roof is a brown/oil rubbed bronze look and this black vent worked well with the aesthetic.

This model includes a round flange on the bottom side
There is another brand that uses stronger steel and better manufacturing, but it costs twice as much. Also, you have to order it a week in advance. That wasn't an option for me.This model has the round flange/collar on the bottom. The model they sell at my local box store is the same thing with no collar (universal fit). Potentially this model saves time, but I think mounting the collar separately (permanently to the roof) and then setting the universal model over that is the better option. Then the roofers don't have to touch your ductwork, and the plumbers/hvac guys don't have to touch your roof. Everybody wins.Anyway - Broan puts these things in a box that is barely large enough, and the flashing flange gets bent up in shipping/handling. The ones I got from Amazon were in worse condition than the ones at my local store, but even there I had to search through several boxes to find the ones that were the least damaged. It probably doesn't matter a lot once it's nailed and caulked on the roof, but it's a little annoying.I also had to double-check the damper flap - fixed the weatherstripping so the adhesive wouldn't end up sticking to the flap, and make sure the flap was laying straight and not bent. It took some finesse, but I got them figured out. If these are just going to be slapped on your roof and not carefully checked, then I'd buy the more expensive brand, or cross your fingers =)Also - I painted mine with brown Rustoleum to match my brown roof - looks amazing. If you color-match, just pick a flat or satin paint and go for a darker shade from your shingles. I tried to variegate mine to camouflage them and it looked crappy - ended up just painting them straight brown. Same on the pipe flashing.

Range Hood vent for my new roof.
The Broan-NuTone vent is exactly what I was looking for. I am doing a new roof and wanted to change to exhaust to the outside for my range.

Good quality product from Seller. Delivery needs to get their act together.
Very good quality.. both the sturdy roof vent and flexible ducting. The product as illustrated came as ordered. Pleased?... Yes! ...Except, at no fault of the seller, the shipping/delivery company apparently tried to destroy the boxes in handling. The box corners were crushed, one side torn open apprx 10 inches, and the product (metal roof vent) was bent on top and on two sides. Thankfully it was metal. However on a happy note after some elbow grease and metal bending, including repair of the internal baffle, it is 100% usable.

Works Great
I checked out the hardware stores Home Depot and Lowes and they didn't really have what I needed. I needed a roof vent for 6" duct. This product is perfect for that. This item arrived a while back and I installed it today.I read multiple reviews about this and other roof vents. There was one that said this vent was actually brown. It looks black to me.There were some reviews that said the vent arrived damaged. Mine arrived in perfect condition. It was in a box that was placed inside another box. The vents are easily damaged as I bent a corner carrying the vent to the roof.I think that the collar to attach the 6" duct could (should) be longer. The directions tell you to cut a 7" diameter hole. I did that and didn't have any problems connecting by 6" flexible duct work with a 6.5" Hose Clamp. I would rather have cut a 6" hole but I think if I had done that I would have had trouble connecting the 6" duct work because of the short length of the collar. The bird guard kept falling out of the vent once I was on the roof which was rather annoying but I don't think it's going to fall out now that the roof vent is mounted. The damper works fine and is very quiet.

Sturdy cap!
This is a solid product and a must if you are installing for a decent cfm exhaust hood in your kitchen. Many will just use a 4” vent cap, but that isn’t enough airflow. The louvre in this cap prevents cold air blowing back down the ducting.I deducted some points because the collar for attaching the ducting isn’t really deep enough for many roofs. After you take decking thickness into account you are likely to struggle to get the duct connected and sealed after install. I installed a collar on it before we installed the cap, and it was much easier.
