Three major criticisms
Lots of interesting ideas in this book, but three major criticisms. First, the book is very, how shall I say, Franco-centric, which shows up all the more in an English translation. Second, the comics, while sometimes amusing, are often puerile, and I would have preferred a more traditional narrative with more philosophical reflection rather than a succession of salacious vignettes. Third, we have to take everything at face value as there are no academic references at all. Still, a good book, but only because it lacks competitors.

Funny, comprehensive and sexy
I really enjoyed this book, and I would definitely recommend it to anybody who wants to know more about sexuality throughout history. They do not teach you this stuff in school!I think the comic strip style delivery is bright and holds the reader's interest. I feel that I've learned a lot and it's all been in manageable chunks, and I've chuckled to myself at the comic asides in the drawings. It's also quite sensitively written when tackling some of the less amusing aspects of our sexual history, and it's pretty sexy, which is always fun.
