what battery do I look for if I want to order an extra for this camera?

The official battery is a Fuji NP-45S. If you need to quickly swap in a fresh battery and have it be charged right away then having a backup is a good idea. However, the camera is charged with a micro USB cable. I suggest that it would be more generally useful to get an external USB battery pack (Anker makes good ones) and then you can recharge your camera using the included charging cable. The benefit of a USB battery pack is that you can also use it to charge your phone or other USB-powered accessories. The only drawback to the external battery pack idea is that this camera will not charge while it is on, so you have to wait for the battery to recharge before you could use it.

I’m going on a rafting trip with no way to recharge the battery. Will it take regular AA batteries?

Thanks for your interest in the camera. The camera does not take AA batteries. It takes a rechargeable lithium battery only.

How long does it take to start up before I can take pictures?

I wouldn’t even bother. I bought this camera and immediately returned it. Photos were terrible. Even older gopros take better photos that this Fuji film. And the wireless function to transfer photos on this Fuji film is a gimmick. I was never successful in getting pics to transfer so I had to do it the old fashioned way with a computer

How do I charge or change the battery?

You can use the USB cable and a charger or you can remove the battery and use a suitable charger. Small cannon chargers work. Open the side panel and press on the small plastic retaining clip to remove the battery. You can not insert the battery backwards later.
