The best on the market
Genuinely the best travel mug on the market. I have had so many brands over 20 years. These bodum mugs are by far the best. Keeps drinks hot for a long time no spills and good quality

The best travel mugs by far
I’ve had another one of these for several years & it’s been absolutely brilliant. Wanted another to stay in the car as I keep forgetting to take it with me. They keep drinks so hot with the lid on, they can last for hours. I did burn my mouth the first time I ever used one though as it was still so unexpectedly hot so be warned! They look smart & are light enough to carry in a bag without any issues. If I had to criticise anything it would be that the rubber seal on the lid is hard to keep clean so eventually over time it discolours with staining from coffee etc. It’s a minor thing though & doesn’t affect the usage. The colour is really nice (bought the rose gold for myself & pewter for my husband). My old mug has scratched a little over the years & when comparing it to the new one it’s not as shiny but still looks great given its age & the amount of usage. The lid is good too, the flip catch is easy to operate one-handed & it pours accurately meaning you don’t spill it everywhere when sipping. I’ve left the lid flipped open in the car several times to help drinks cool down enough to drink & it doesn’t slop out either which is great. I’ve tried other travel mugs & there’s no comparison, these are worth every penny!

The BEST thermos for heat retention and keeping clean
This thermos is not remotely leak-proof and needs to be kept upright ....and I'm okay with that. Why? Because every leak-proof cup that I've tried is genuinely impossible to fully clean, even with all the tiny little bottle brushes, and so you are eventually drinking black mould. This is a doddle to clean in the dishwasher. I'm not sure if it is listed as dishwasher safe or not, but it took about 5 years of daily dishwashering for my previous one to need replacing (eventually the plastic lid didn't screw properly into the metal cup, and so wasn't secure.) It also holds its heat better than any other cup I've tried. It doesn't feel warm at all from the outside because all of the heat is held inside. The only downer to this is that I need to make my drink well in advance of leaving the house so that it has time to cool before I put the lid on, as if not it will take hours to cool to a drinkable temperature!

Good insulated mug but not leak proof.
Steel vacuum flasks/tumblers review. Rather than review individually, reckon it more informative to provide comparison of all the ones purchased on Amazon website and are being used. These are :- Contigo Autoseal Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Tumbler 470ml (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001RMGVU8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00) Primus Commuter Mug, 300ml, (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007DCZ8SC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00) Contigo Aria - Travel Mug with Lock, 600 ml, (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004REX7GE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00) Bodum Travel Press Set Coffee Maker, Purple, Lime Green + Off White, 350ml, (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0044CJNXK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00) similarly, Bodum Vacuum Travel Mug, Stainless Steel with Black Lid and Band, Small, 0.35 l, 12 oz (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002ECY206?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00) Which keeps the hottest for longest ? Best one at number 1 below :- 1. Contigo Aria - Travel Mug with Lock, 600 ml (obvious really as it has largest volume of hot water to begin with in its container. 2. Contigo Autoseal Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Tumbler 470ml 3. Primus Commuter Mug, 300ml 4. All the Bodum's are the same and ranked 4th. The lids are not sealed (there is a tiny vent). They each claim so many hours of keeping hot and so many for cold. I beg to differ and reckon it all depends on ambient temperatures. On average on a winter's night in Southern England 3 hours is maximum of what you could possibly stretch to, to say kept hot in the 470ml Contigo. Although the Contio 470ml juts out the side elasticated pockets of a PacSafe Shoulderbag VentureSafe 300 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005N0NBSU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00), it stays in while the bag is worn while walking around and shopping. However, its size got in the way when inserted into the cup holder of one of our cars. (The holder was in front of the gear stick and it was difficult enough trying to insert the tumbler into the holder while the car was stationary - it was too tall and the console below the dash board prevent it from fulling sitting into the holder. This prompted the purchase of the Primus Commuter 300ml insulated tumbler. The short height and the narrow base allowed it to go inside any of the bup holders in any of our cars and could be access with ease while driving. However, the design of the seal in the lid was a problem. It wasn't quite as easy to use as the Contigo but worse, after a zip of a drink, the design of the seal meant a bit of liquid always present in the mechanism (due to water's surface tension etc.). Upon closing the seal, this inevitable liquid shoots out of the hole for drinking. After coffee dropplets spray out of the hole onto steering wheel and dashboard, I gave up using the Primus inside any of the cars. It is relegated for walking trips where it is held in external side pockets of backpacs. The 600ml capacity Contigo was bought for longer car journeys. It has advantages and disadvantages over the 470ml design. The seal is improved with a lock. The button to open the seals now also slides to lock (should you want to) after the seal is shut. The base of the flask has a good silicon rubber ring such that if you accidentally slam it onto a table top too hard, there won't be damage to either. The rubber also makes it less likely to slide of a table on a rolling ship where I often work. But, this rubber and the wider diameter of the flask base (compared to the 470ml Contigo) makes it less easy to slide in and out of the main cup holder (behind the gear stick) although it goes in ok at the big cup holder at the door in another of our cars. The difference between the Bodum Travel Press and their mug is the inclusion of additional lid which has a press - great for coffee drinkers. Works for tea leaves also. In fact, we bought more travel press than mug because they were discounted to lower price than the mug. These Bodums are mainly for indoor use as they are not leak proof. Bought these because they are insulated but also to replace ceramic mugs which kept leaking and cracking. The Bodums all have rubber base. Need a long tea spoon to fish tea bags from the bottom of these mugs. I would say these Bodums are good for about two hours for hot tea. The wider, rubber base makes these lease easy to slide into the main cup holder as compared to the 470ml Contigo If I had to choose one model, then I would choose the Contigo 470ml (with the narrowing base (because noticed there is a newer 470ml design with base diameter about the same size as the waist)) because the size and design is suited to most situations /cup holders.

Good product
Feels well made, comfortable to hold, doesn't leak and keeps drinks hot (as it should). All in all does what it says on the tin well.

Leak free and keeps hot
Used this since 2023 3-5 days a week. Only time it leaks is when you over fill. Keep the liquid about 1cm below the internal cap thread. Keeps a cuppa tea hot for 2-3 hours in my experience. Goes in my backpack on 4 mile ride home with half a cup and doesn't leak.

Very good but with useage caveats
As a product that fulfils its title, it ticks all the boxes (or stars). Its very well made and, importantly, well designed. It has a look of quality and feel of durability around it. However, in use there are things to watch for that are not necessarily the fault of the product, more of its use and could be applied to other reusable mugs. Firstly, its stainless steel. The rubber grip around it provides an secure way of holding it, even with gloves but if you carry this externally (Ie in a pouch on the side of the bag) the whole lot eventually reduces down in temperature to meet the ambient. What this means in winter when your barista adds the coffee it can be going into a vessel that's as cold as a cup straight from the fridge, so ask them to give it a hot water rinse before adding the coffee. Once up to temperature its excellent at retaining the heat and keeps the contents hot enough for your walk to the office or for slow drinking. Talking of the grip, the diameter overall might not suit small hands so that's the only knock of a star of the ease of holding. The design means its leak proof, *if* you fasten it correctly. When the lid is screwed on it can appear ok, drink ok but with a gap a bit bigger than that required to put your thumbnail in it can leak. Its not a fault of the mug or design but in use the barista putting the lid on may not be familiar so ensure its properly screwed on. When you look at the size and capacity it seems ok, about a normal cup size. Its 355ml capacity is sort of inline with a 'tall' coffee. In use I've found that what you get from the barista is around 300ml. In places where they're not too diligent about how the milk is steamed or the quantity of foam to liquid, the resulting "Slopochino" means that what you get is very little liquid. IMHO, the foam in this mug adds no value so asking for 'no foam' gives better experience and value for money. I've also been charged for a 'medium' size drink (Ie one around 450ml) because the mug looks a lot larger than its true capacity. If it was plastic, ala the cheap Starbucks reusables, etc then its probably more closer but the raised bottom in this mug, while helping for the general heat retention, subtracts from the volume. So, make sure you ask for 'small/tall' and correct/challenge if they want to charge for medium. So, usability aside, its rather nice and would purchase again.

Poor quality, especially the lid
Very poor quality. Lid does not click shut. I’ve been buying Bodum insulated cups for years, this style in particular and never had one this poor and cheap in quality, mainly the lid. I can understand a lot of the reviews now that stated this cup leaks (I thought perhaps they hadn’t sealed it correctly) The lip part that clicks down does not fit securely/tight. I have the exact same one that I’ve used for 3 years, though it was looking a little battered so wanted to replace it and because it has been so good, I just went for the same again. However the plastic lid is now a cheaper, thinner and lighter plastic that does not fit/close securely. If this is now Bodums’ quality , then I think I’ll have to switch brands. (Had to put 1 star in order to write a review!)

I received a defective mug and threw it away sadly ...
I received a defective mug and threw it away sadly. I my eye lids were stretched out so far they hurt, from my expression of a refund from the seller. I didn't ask for one because I threw it away and never expected a refund. The seller went beyond my wildest imagination so I thank them truly. I'm off to put ice on my eye lids and pick out a new Bodum coffee mug!
