Very good scales. Big clock,which is important for us senior people. Don't have to squint to see our weight. Stable for standing on even on carpet. But it does liy, I'm sure I'm lighter than it says,I wish.good purchase.

I opted for a mechanical scale as I've had electronic ones in the past and they seem to lose accuracy. This is a heavy duty solid pice of metal ... worth every penny in my opinion. Just what I wanted.

The grey "anti-slip" step liner arrived partly delaminated (curving up at the edges), there is obviously an issue with the adhesive and it will not remain adhered to the step so I plan to use super-glue rather than return the scale, apart from that (minus one star) the scale appears to be accurate and robust, a perfect addition to my home gym.

Under no circumstances buy this, The face of the dial is made of paper and it had slipped across so useless to see your weight, also the dial to adjust was too stiff to move. I was sent a replacement F.O.C and it arrived with exactly same problem . It has cost me 2 lots of postage and the scales so far not a penny refunded after an arduous session with AI I finally got through to a human who was very good but the proof of the pudding etc is I am still penniless after many weeks and hold out no hope of being reimbursed. Do yourself a favour and dont buy this Chinese rubbish.

I so wanted to like these scales.. I want to support british companies like Salter and they do look really great.. but this is an instance where I just can't accept form over function.. here's the problem.. It's mechanical measuring.. the springs and all the connected mechanism do not behave identically every time. I knew that if I didn't return them I would regret it when the return window closes. The problem is even if I zero the needle every time it still sometimes does not return to zero. When it goes up to the weight it still leaves room for confusion between the lines.., err is that a pound? or half a pound? (same in kilos). To the eye looking at a needle between unidentified lines can at best be an approximation. Moving even slightly causes such a fluctuation on the scale you cannot be sure which is the right reading.This could be massively improved by including a digital readout like some other manufacturers do, and there's plenty of room to do that on the big dial. In this format they're just not properly accurate so sorry..

I have always preferred the simplicity and reliability of mechanical scales. No need to faff about with 2032 cells every so often, no pseudoscientific pretense of body fat percentage analysis, no attempt to read your horoscopes. Simple and unpretentious, old-school, large dial, easy to read. The major irritation for me being that most scales like this in the UK have dual imperial/metric scales (needlessly cluttered if you're only going to weigh yourself in kilograms), with the imperial on the outer (bigger) ring -- making the metric more awkward to read. So in short, if you weigh yourself in kilograms, this is probably what you want.
