Snake Skin for All
Greetings,Ruben Snake stands as one of the great spiritual leaders of our day. He took on the federal government after Antonin Scalia's Smith decision in 1990 eliminated any restraints on the persecution of the Native American Church, and he won.Like Martin Luther King, Reuben Snake passed on just before we got to the Valley of Plenty, but he knew we would get here and keep going too.Reuben Snake of a true historical figure who will be remembered and recognized by this Planet two hundred years from now.One Love revtombrown

A Humble, Yet Deeply Satisfying, Review
Dr. Jay Fikes has written one of the best biographies I've read. Reuben Snake was an activist, healer, and, most importantly, an engaged and compassionate human being. Dr. Fikes has written a very fitting biography of an inspiring person, and revealed facets of a critical time in American history as well. I strongly recommend this book to all those interested in American history, shamanism, and Native American history (which is quite different from the standard American history, as any European-American who has experienced Thanksgiving in Alaska knows!).

Reuben Snake will inspire you.
I enjoyed the Reuben Snake book very much. I knew approximately zero about Reuben Snake and about Native American life and activism in the twentieth century, so all of that was of great interest to me. But maybe I liked the straightforward spiritual wisdom more than anything. It is the kind of basic wisdom that I can really relate to, and need to keep having reminders about. It "speaks to my condition". Thank you Jay for helping me learn about this man.

Fascinating life-story of a humble and compassionate serpent
What is dangerous for some people can be sacred and useful for the others who can utilize that and we should respect those. Jay Fikes' book proved this true for me for peyote, a sacred cactus for Native Americans and pschedelic drug for others who do not know how to use it.Moreover, I was deeply impressed with the Native American character Reuben Snake. This brave, compassionate man inspired me about how to live in harmony with the nature, the world and all that dwell theron. He showed me that the obstacles are in our minds and if we overcome these there will be no obstacles at all. This book also helps many realize "Being Indian is being a human being and human beings deserve respect for what they believe, for their religions, cultures, etc."Jay Fikes had done a wonderful job by introducing this humble serpent to our lives.
