Worth the extra expense; much less damage to drywall.
Like most people, I have been using the cheap "silver" picture hangers forever, and just assumed that it was normal that when it came time to remove a hanger, there would be a jagged hole in the drywall to fix; not a huge hole, but big enough that it was noticeable even after you filled it with spackling.I was out of touch-up paint for the walls on which we were going to hang some new photos, and thought I would give these OOK hangers a try since they claim that when you remove them you will have only a small pin hole in the wall. Of course when we placed the hangers there was one that was out of position and had to be moved, and when I removed it I was pleasantly surprised to see that there really was only a small pinhole in the drywall. The difference in the OOK hangers is that the "nail" that fastens the hanger into the wall is tapered to a slim, sharp point at the end so there is simply less damage done when the nail is hammered into place. The end of the "nail" that is left exposed has grooves cut into it and the head is bigger than a typical nail, both of which make it easier to grab and and remove them from the wall than the nails supplied with "regular" picture hangers. The result is a small clean hole in the wall, which requires just a small dab of spackling, and I won't need any touch-up paint. While I was sceptical of their claims, I am a believer in the OOK hangers and will be using them from now on.

Say goodbye to plastic mollys - and you can even take them with you when you move!
My favorite picture hangers hands down. I once lived in 4 houses in 3 years - these professional hooks are amazing because you can take them back out of the wall with only a tiny hole, and reuse them over and over. Always buy these and not the cheaper everyday OOK hooks - they have a fatter nail, and the nailhead is harder to remove from the wall if you ever want to move... Note these are best for pictures that have a picture wire on the back - they typically don't work for the little sawtooth hangers as the hook has an angle to it. These hooks come in many different weights (even 75lbs) - I've hung huge pictures with them and never had a problem.

They are worth the money!
Echoing other reviews, these hooks are so easy to use. The nail is sharp and goes in easily (I have not used on a stud). Hanging pictures can be a chore especially if creating a gallery that has symmetry. These hooks make the chore go easier. A note of caution. Because these are hooks, it is more difficult to use this product with pictures that have sawtooth hardware. In some cases, I used pliers to change the angle of the hook.

Product is great...
...but Amazon's description sucks. Where you read "40 pieces" that apparently means 20 nails and 20 hooks. The item package reads "20 sets" but the picture on the product packaging must be 80 "sets" aka 160 "pieces". Amazon should either change the description to "20 hooks with nails" or at the very least put a clarification in the item details.Eight dollars for 20 one-half inch hooks that only CLAIM to support 10 pounds? Not in this lifetime!By the way: 5 stars for the product... 0 stars for Amazon... Average=3 stars

I'm a convert to OOK hooks
Somewhere I read a pitch from "This Old House" about using OOK hooks, and I was inspired to try them to hang a heavy picture on drywall. They worked great, and I've sought the OOK brand ever since. This Tidy Tin is a handy way to keep the hooks organized, but it's pricey for 20 basic hooks. When I reorder, I will probably look for something more like the picture hanging assortment OOK 50918 Professional Picture Hanging Value Pieces Kit, hangs up to 17 frames

Best Picture Hangers In the World!
The nails for these make tiny, neat holes in almost any wall that do not need to be patched, painting will fill in the holes. Also, twisting and pulling out the nail makes these reusable. You know how many pictures seem to need constant repositioning to keep them straight? Use two of these small hangers, spaced a couple of inches apart. When hung from two hangers, the picture is much more stationary. Yes, this is a great tip for using these!

Everyone Should Use These
Although expensive, Ooks are so worth it. They do the least amount of damage to a wall of anything I've tried for hanging artwork. If you rent an apartment this is especially important as you don't want to damage your walls and risk anything coming out of your security deposit. I manage an apartment building and recommend them to all my tenants. Best of all they're durable (nails are titanium I believe), so they're reusable.

Too thick! Won't work with old Ooks
These are too thick to use in the older Ook hooks. There beauty of the old Ooks was the extreme thiness of the nails. I bought these to use with my older Ooks and wasted my money. I might as well have purchased the cheap hooks and nails - because the both put big holes un the walls. (BTW, I contacted Ook and they no longer produce a thin nail. There IS a thin black steel nail available frim Lowes )
