Love this reel
I’ve been using this surf spinning reel for several weeks now on everything from heavy beach breaks to long cast big game sessions, and overall it’s been very impressive. 🔹 Quality: Right out of the box the build feels solid and premium. The materials don’t feel cheap or hollow — it has that reassuring weight and robustness that tells you it’s made to take serious pressure from big fish. 🔹 Smoothness: One of the first things I noticed was how smooth the retrieve is. Whether slow-rolling a bait or cranking hard, the drag runs buttery smooth with zero jerky starts or resistance spikes. That makes long battles much less fatiguing and a lot more enjoyable. 🔹 Weight: For a big game reel designed to hold heavy lines and big fish drag, the weight is very well balanced. It’s not feather-light, but it doesn’t pull the rod down or throw off your cast rhythm either — perfectly suited for extended surf sessions. 🔹 Drag Quality: This is a highlight. The drag feels consistent, powerful, and linear from 0 to max — no sudden free spool or locking. Even when fighting hard-charging fish, it settles into a predictable resistance that lets me keep pressure without worrying about breaks. 🔹 Look: Aesthetically, this reel hits the sweet spot between rugged and refined. The finish is sharp and clean, with no sloppy paint or mismatched edges. It looks like a reel that belongs in the water and in the hands of serious anglers. 🔹 Size: It’s definitely on the larger end, but that’s kinda the point with big game surf reels. The size gives it line capacity and torque, and it doesn’t feel oversized once you’re used to it. If anything, it inspires confidence — especially when paired with a heavy-duty surf rod.

Get the right size
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I picked this for its qtyle but having landed multiple fish on this reel already i highly sugest this reel its smooth fits well to the rod and the drag is quick and easy to adjust while trolling its handled a 45 in striper and didnt struggle doi.g so Size: Multiple size avalible its important you get the right size or itll be to heavy for the rod as this reel has some heft Ease of use: Even people new to fishing can use this reel its idiot proof Weight: On the bulky side for the rod i have it on but as long as the size you buy maches the fish your chasing it wors well Functionality: Functions as it should Durability: So far not a scratch on it Smoothness: 10 out of 10 extreamly smooth

Really nice reel for very little money
I got the BG1200 and it's a nice reel for surf fishing. I'm a casual surf fisherman and this is a really nice reel for very little money. The fit and finish is super nice and id recommend it to anyone who likes surf fishing and doesn't wanna spend hundreds of dollars in a reel. This is the 2nd one I bought and the 2st one is still working perfectly.

Great reel for fishing--not crabbing.
It was a great reel for a year, handled very big fish such as big sting rays and sharks. Not recommended for crab snaring as the gears start slipping at breaking due to the consistent pressure needed for keeping a crab on the snare, otherwise great reel for everything else. It casts far if paired with the right fishing line, rod and weight. Could use a strengthening in its internal gear system.

Big game shore fishing
Great for shore fishing, handling big game like BullReds like a champ I have the 12000 series and 10000 series on 15’ medium heavy rods and I highly recommend them.

Bearings broke on 3rd Use, freshwater.
Bought the 6000 series, broke on my 3rd fishing day with it. Used it for Michigan river salmon (6k is crazy overkill and still broke). It’s cheap, yes. But to break on the third use, not even worth the risk. Bearings are broke and won’t spin.

So far very pleased with this reel , I use it for the surf and for crabbing from the surf I run 80lb braid , rinse after each use hasn’t caused any problems

I just returned after surf fishing with this reel every day during a month long trip to Mexico. The reel handled itself well and was quite smooth for about 2 weeks. I caught many fish with it and made sure to wash it down after each use with clean fresh water. Around the 3rd week, the reel started to show signs of struggle and I figured that next year, I would also need to bring down oils and lubes to keep it running smoothly. However, yesterday I returned home and couldn't get it to spin at all because the reel is completely done and seized up. The handle can't be removed whatsoever, even when trying to force it out with heavy tools and a hammer, and every single internal component (upon taking it apart) is heavily rusted and corroded beyond repair. I began the process of cleaning it (as I know how) but after 2 hours in and the deeper I got, the more I concluded that it's not worth any further effort. In conclusion, if you need something for a quick week or two long fishing trip, then this reel will do the trick and consider it a disposable item. If you are looking for something that will last you for quite some time, then this is absolute garbage. Unless you are using it only in fresh water. As a saltwater reel? This should never have been promoted as such. I will keep the spool with my expensive braid on it, but the minute I hit submit on this enty, this reel is hitting the trash.

The product itself is well built. Smooth, reel has nice clic when you close it. But as you can see on the pictures, the spool has way to much space when it's fully extended. That creates an unforgiving trap.... A simple bad cast, a burst of wind or just a bad surprise if you're battling a fish and for a second you get a loose line, results are awful do to the fact that it's way to easy to get tangle... My first use, I got trap 2 times... Once I had to cut the line, bring manually my weight and my bait, than untangle my line in the spool... This is not my first rodeo. If you want to buy it, you will have to pay attention on every single thing that can potentially ruin your catch... Food for thought.
