Step Up and Lead 0th Edition

I just finished this book. It is a very good read and I think it is suitable for anyone in the fire service or anyone in a leadership position looking to better themselves as leaders. The author has great stories and you can tell he has real experience in dealing with different people and different personalities.

Amazing speaker, and writer. Book is extremely inspirational and speaks of Leadership in the Fire Service.

Excellent book by a really energetic fire service leader. I bought this book after seeing him in person and enjoyed his lecture. The book is a great reference and how-to manual for dealing with some personnel issues.

I bought it and it said the book had a few bent pages, minor water damage. Both true, but still in really nice shape. The book itself is very well written. Think of it as "mental vitamins". As a company officer or Command Staff officer, you should know all this stuff, but the book puts what should be common leadership knowledge in a new light.

I got quite a bit out of this book and would recommend it to any firefighter, whether or not they are in a command role. While much of what Chief Viscuso offers is most relevant to people in leadership roles, I feel it would be of value to almost any member of the fire service. Indeed, probably any person would benefit from reading this book, as many of the lessons are equally as applicable to everyday interactions and business dealings as they are to fire service leadership.The book is a very fast, easy read. I don't know that it will be up for any literary prizes, but I found the writing of this text to be clear, direct, and reasonably organized. I felt that the text could have been more concise in places, but the repetition does serve to make the key points very easy to comprehend. The perspective is definitely from the career side of the fire service, but I found that the vast majority of it was applicable to my experience as a volunteer officer.Overall, I am glad I read this book and recommend it. It did not demand a tremendous investment of my time or coin, and it contained some valuable lessons that are already serving me well. I passed it on to another officer in my department as soon as I completed it, and I will be very pleased to see it make the rounds in my agency.

A must have for every leader i the fire service. This book belongs on your desk to use as a reference as needed. Thanks!

I recently promoted at my organization and this book has been instrumental in my continual development. I highly recommend this book to all leaders in the fire service, formal and informal.

Chief Viscuso is the real thing. The fire service is built and survives because of individuals like him.
