![The Top Secret Life of Edgar Briggs: The Complete Series [DVD]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81N3L0uew2L._AC_SL3840_.jpg)

Created by Humphrey Barclay to showcase the emerging talents of a young David Jason, this Cold War comedy series charts the inexplicable successes of Edgar Briggs a clueless counter-espionage agent who inspires fear in the hearts of enemy agents, and sheer terror amongst his fellow colleagues!Somehow, the bungling Briggs has reached a position of responsibility within the Intelligence Service, and directs a team of sensible men and women. Despite their attempts to restrain him, he still manages to cause chaos wherever he goes. Yet Briggs always gets his man; the reason could be that, judging others by his own standards, he believes that everyone else is a fool... Review: Good Silly Fun! - Adorable and witty show starring a young Sir David Jason, OBE. Item arrived fast and works well too. Review: Just to unbelievable, truly slap stick, nonsense, comedy - I love David Janson and have almost all the movies and Tv series he was in, but Iโm just not a lover of the ridiculous. Yes, I know this was a spoof and was early in his career, but just not to my liking when it comes to comedy. Iโll be giving this to an individual who loves The Three Stooges, if that comparison can be utilized as to how this series plays out.

To Be Rediscovered (Or Discovered)
This is one of those gems that got lost in the recesses of time... If you can, watch it. It's pure brilliancy in 25-minute doses. Wonderful.

As a fan of Jason David as Jack Frost , I was looking forward to seeing this show . It has funny parts but predictable and sometimes over the top . The seller , Chalkys provided prompt and efficient service , as usual and the quality and price of the merchandise exceeded expectations . Chalkys is my favourite seller and I would be very happy to make all my purchases through them !

This hilarious show was originally on ITV, not the BBC as another reviewer claims. Spy spoofs tend to vary in quality, from the wonderful 'Carry On Spying' to the dire 'Austin Powers' and 'Johnny English' movies. In 1974, David Jason landed his first lead role, as incompetent British secret agent Edgar Briggs. It is not a rip-off of 'Get Smart'. Briggs has more in common with 'Frank Spencer' than 'Maxwell Smart'. The world he operates in is more like Callan's than Bond. There is visual comedy aplenty, meaning the show was popular at the time with youngsters ( and even made it onto the front cover of an edition of Look-In ). As the spy fad had ended by 1974, it was not the hit it deserved to be, and Jason would be next seen on the box in 'Lucky Feller'.

I did not enjoy the slapstick - but it is an integral part of the character - he gets everything wrong and is very annoying - but worth all the hard work because he means well and somehow always wins for the good guys in the end. Worth getting just to see the early David Jason.

Anche senza sottotitoli e con la sola lingua inglese a disposizione, questa sit com rimane un assoluto capolavoro. Attenzione alle mascelle, potreste slogarvele !!
