In this age of Dick Tracy style radio watches that do as much as a Swiss army knife, it can be nice to keep things simple and easy to read. That is the case with this BUREI classic watch design, that reminds me of the old Seiko "Railroad Approved" watch from the '80s. That was the very first review I ever posted, and that was a long time ago. I wore my new watch for a while today while swimming, and it works underwater for me, as advertized! It comes ready to fit a fairly large wrist, and I needed to downsize. I took out three of the links, and I suggest using a tool designed to remove links from this type of watchband, if you need to remove any links. Perhaps you could improvise, but I think it's a bit safer (and a lot easier) to use the proper tool in this case. The instructions are helpful. The watch is shiny stainless steel and has a nice heft to it. The crystal and the metal parts do not scratch easily. The band-clasp is easy to release, by squeezing it, as the video (hopefully) demonstrates. It seems to have a quartz movement and it is not immediately obvious how to remove the bezel to change out the battery. But that can wait for another day, I am enjoying my easy to read, water resistant, old school watch, and I recommend it for wearing anywhere, formal or informal, just in case you need to know what time it is. As the video and photo show, it looks pretty nice, too.

I do like this watch, but not as much as I hoped I would. The watch itself is attractive, though basic, and I like that it has a Japanese mechanism. The finish of the entire piece is very nice. The problem here is the wrist band design. Out of the box (a metal box that arrived dented, by the way), the wrist band is enormous. It must be big enough to accommodate the wrists of 300-pound (or larger?) men. So there was no way I could wear it until I obtained a metal watch band adjustment tool, which is not included with the watch. I had to remove 5 links. But I first removed 6 links, because that's kind of how many needed to be removed. The problem is that my wrist size varies a bit depending on the time of day and whether I've been exerting myself, and so on. So at times, the band was just too small with 6 links removed, and I had to put one back in. The result is that most of the time, the band is still a bit too large for my wrist, and it doesn't grip my wrist like a cloth, leather, or plastic band does. And it's set - there's no way to make a finer adjustment at times if needed. So the band is not really very comfortable, but I've been getting used to it, and am finding it more agreeable than I did originally. Also, this is a rather hefty watch, with all the metal. If you think none of this will bother you, you may like this watch.
