side by side doors
Installed them on my side by side. Holds the door open even on a hill.

Well made with quick shipping
These are strong, and well made. Last ones lasted 20 years on RV garage doors. These should last as long.

The right piece for the job
Having the lift support made it so much better to hold up bottom of bed when getting into storage area under bed . Just a little push and it stays up to get into storage . The 15" struts fit good . Glides up and down easy, and does not bounce up when we are traveling down highway. The price was good and Honey likes how easy it is for her to get into the storage to get things in or out . Makes a Happy camper out of both of us .

Work well trial and error getting right LBS
Read the instructions if you're fabricating, the mounting points do really matter. Each little line was either too strong or too weak for my application with the 100lb shocks and a 20lb roof

Very pleased, with one small exception - struts came compressed without mounting bolt installed
I'm very pleased with these struts. Let's be real, they're a commodity part, so there's not much to differentiate these from any other. I ordered the 35lb struts but I'd swear they're significantly stronger than that (which negatively affected my install, but it barely passed). My issue is that they came compressed (which is ideal) but the bolts on one end of each strut were not installed. So in order to install a strut, you have to uncompress them (cut the compression strap), install the bolt on one end, THEN compress the strut again and keep it compressed (HOW?!?), and install in the necessary location. If my goal were to keep something light open, this would be no deal, but this was for a very heavy RV bed that I couldn't lift without the struts. I sacrificed a ratchet strap from my truck to compress the struts and install them, so at least I got the project done. Overall pleased with the price and construction. I'm convinced they'll last a number of years. Just really irritated with the bolts not coming already installed.

Do the math for a successful installation
I replaced the 6" mattress on my travel trailer with a 10" one which made lifting the hinged lid to get to anything stored underneath a struggle as was finding the mathematical formula to determine what size cylinders I needed to support the weight of the mattress. I installed 1x3 furring strips to the insides of the box and under the lid to avoid driving screws into the thin walls of the bed sides because I knew I wouldn't find the sweet spot on my first try. One inch off in either direction makes a huge difference. The entire process took about an hour and I'm happy to say that the lid can now be raised and lowered with one finger.

. Would have been nice but failed units
I also received a pair of evidently over extended units. I too was hoping for a better lift assist in a motorhome under bed storage. My units appeared new and undamaged. I was unable to compress either unit but the instruction sheet said that could be true. Installed the 1 new unit and dropped the bed down. It shut down easily but broke the cheezy 'bego wood strip. Removed, reinstalled old worthless unit and tossed into my pile of worthless unreturnable amazon items. Bought in winter so the return window closed. Will try another unit from somewhere else! They looked nice. Would have used one and had the other for a spare!

Worked for me, but needed accommodation
While these are often marketed for RV beds or trailer covers, I put them to the test in a much more demanding application. I used these struts for the most amazing project: making an entire wall of my log cabin's utility room into a massive door. I absolutely love how the project turned out, but I think this product could benefit from having more options for mounting to the structure.

These worked beautifully on our cover lift to our Beachcomber 750 Hot Tub. I highly recommend these shocks.
