Would buy it again.
This choker worked great for the first few times but then it broke at upper swage. Looking back I think the log was too big and it may have dug into the ground while skidding it. I contacted them about a return two months after I originally bought it and they issued the return immediately no questions asked. Very pleased with the company, in fact I went on to buy their 16" skidding tongs and their Timberjack. Both fantastic tools and highly recommended. I would buy it again if I was working with smaller logs (the skidding tings work better for me right now).

Quality has diminished
I originally ordered this product in 2017 and it performed exceptionally well. However, after years of strenuous use it finally broke so I hit order again for a replacement. The new product is a smaller diameter cable and uses a fabric filler for the core of the strands. Needless to say, it broke the very first time I used it. Total waste of money and deceptive as to a reduction in quality.

Easy to use
Great product, however breaks under stress. Don’t overload!

Good item - Follow up after field testing
I recently received this log choker and it appears to be exactly what I was looking. I say appears to be only because I haven'thad a chance to field test it yet to see if it will pull the amount of weight as stated in the description. Judging from to cableand rings appearance, I would say that the description is accurate, but only time will tell. Will post a follow up once the weatherbreaks and I can use this item.Have now had an opportunity to use the product. I have several large trees that needed to be removed. Was able to pull an 8" sycamore and 3" locust tree simultaneously after falling both of them. Hookup was a breeze as well as unhooking. Dragged the two trees 600' w/o any problem. Very pleased with construction of this product. As long as one doesn't try to "overload" the weight capacity, this is a fine product. Would recommend w/o hesitation now that I've field tested it.

Broke on first use. Not an all steel cable.
I have used these for many years. But a brand new one snapped mid cable in the first minute of use. This current design uses a fabric filler hidden inside the steel cable.

Probably ok for brush or limbs. Not so good for logs.
I am a skeptic by nature and my tendency is to overbuy things. However, I took a chance on this product since I had a large tree go down in my yard during a recent hurricane and needed to pull the cut logs out to the street to be picked. When it arrived, I was even more dubious. I hedged my bet and when I bought my 150ft wire rope from a logging company, I bought a 10ft choker cable from them too. That proved to be a smart purchase. After 2 weeks, I was finally able to get out in the yard and set up my first pull. A mostly flat pull with a 10ft incline to street level. I had a friend watch the pull (about 80ft pull in total) as I drove. As the log got about half way up the incline, the choker let go. Broke just below the fitting.I don't know if this product is rated at 2640 pounds or 1500. Jury is out on that. The log I was moving was about 500 pounds. At worst, this product a 3:1 safety margin. At best about 5:1. Neither seemed credible. The choker I bought from the logging company is about 5x the diameter of this one, has a working load of about 20k pounds and could have probably handled dragging the entire tree uncut. It cost $8 more. Given the performance of this product relative to the cost, I simply cannot recommend it. For similar money, you can buy a choker literally 10x as strong.I hate giving poor reviews to products, but sadly, this one just didn't cut it for real work. I did give it 2 stars because it's simple to use and would probably be fine for light work.

Speed and ease of use:
I really like this product I bought a second one for a friend in Main. Over the last two winters I skidded enough fire wood by myself to feed my wood boiler to heat my house, water heater and garage which stays at a balmy 65deg. I was afraid of the cable fraying and running that into my hands but it hasn't even started to look worn yet.I woud also recomend the Woodchuck- Timberjack log jack sold here too. I work by myself and most all of the lumber I harvest are deadfall trees and tops laying on the ground and most of the time frozen to the ground.. This is a fantastick for lifting the but end of the tree tops and getting the chocker underneath the wood. After I skid the log in, I just lift it off of the ground with this and saw it up so my chain doesnt hit the dirt or ice.You wont bend this handleI am always looking for ways to speed this wood retrivel process so this year I plan on getting the Timber Tuff TMW-48 Log Choker Cable with Ring and Probe Stake. The attached Probe should help elimnate some of the lifting of the log I will be able to send the probe under the log and pull the choker through and slip the end over the ball of the ATV.Happy skidding!

Cheap Piece of Junk
Broke with first use with my ATV. Waste of money. Your shoe string is more durable.

Does not meet simple work criteria.
I have blown 2 now, instantly frayed and gets bent then snaps so easily on the cable. Very light weight use and still snaps. If your looking to have your head chopped off definitely buy this cheaply made chocker. If you want to get the job completed snd not lose a limb, go get a chain!

Broke on 1st use.
Broke on 1st use with very little pull. Seems to be a manufacturing issue as the crimp let go. This is a very unsafe product and will result is injury. Unfortunately I can't even return it as purchased and did not use for a while as the return time passed.

Good log choker
Inexpensive and very practical for pulling fence posts. It pulled 100+ posts and it's still in good shape.

Ring size make it easy and fast to hook on ball mount
Does the job for now. Ring size make it easy and fast to hook on ball mount.

Pretty Wimpy - Broke pulling a small bush out of the ground.
I don't know if it takes 1500lbs to pull a little bush out of the ground with my side by side, but it broke this choker. I was surprised that it was undone by such a small task. The failure mode was one of the cables pulled out of crimper. I wouldn't buy this again, nor would i recommend it.
