Replaces the Wii Component AV Cable with a HDMI Out
This device does exactly what it claims to do. It replaces the Wii's Component AV cable and adapts the proprietary AV plug on the back of your Wii to accept an HDMI cable. I run a 6' Amazon Basics HDMI cable between this adapter and a four or five year old Yamaha surround sound receiver, and it works without issues. The thing that makes me most happy is that I'm no longer chained to the 5' Component AV cable that came with my Wii and can instead use a HDMI cable of any length I require. Some things of note:The HDMI jack on the back of this device was disconcertingly tight. At first my HDMI cable didn't want to plug in all of the way. I didn't have to force it, but, after verifying that there was nothing obviously wrong with either the plug on this adapter or my cable, it took a much harder push to seat the HDMI cable than I was comfortable with. Trying the connection again proved slightly easier, so I'm thinking this will loosen with time, but in the mean time, your HDMI cable is definitely plugged into this thing securely...which can't be a bad thing.Don't expect 1080p or even 720p resolutions from your Wii, even with this adapter. It allows audio and video from the Wii to get to your TV/Surround Sound Receiver/HDMI Switch via HDMI. That's all. The Wii itself only outputs at 480p and was not designed to output resolutions higher than that. This adapter doesn't "upscale" your video, and any similar devices you find that claim to do so are lying to you. If any upscaling takes place, it's at your TV, and even then you're still upscaling a 480p image...in other words, you aren't going to notice an "amazing" boost in video quality (or any at all) by switching to this adapter if you were already using a Component AV cable. If you know that going in, you'll be as happy with this device as I am.I didn't check the audio jack because I have no need for it, and unless for some reason you plan to plug headphones or a pair of computer speakers into it, you don't need it either. The HDMI connection carries both video and audio. In closing:Other products that look almost exactly like this one cost less and claim to "upscale" your Wii to 720p or 1080p. I can recommend this one because I know it works and because this product's description doesn't lie to you about the resolutions it outputs. Actually, to me, the honesty of this item's description alone makes it a more worthy purchase than other brands...but to each their own.Cheers.

Second time was a charm
I was disappointed when this product failed to transmit audio to my Samsung Series 6 UHD TV (sound did work with wired headphones through the jack). I contacted the seller via email, and they sent me a replacement within a few days. The replacement unit works perfectly. It's great to have my Wii working again. Picture looks great, and audio is crisp. Definitely a good purchase, and I appreciate the stellar customer service.

Wonderful Wii to HDMI Converter!
Just as advertised. I bought a new 75" Samsung and as much as I love the TV it only had HDMI inputs. We have two young boys who love playing with their Wii (along with us adults on occasion) :) and not being able to play it was a problem. The KCOOL Wii to HDMI Converter worked absolutely great with no delays or other issues I was kind of expecting. I'm even extremely pleased with the quality of video (slightly better than before) since my TV up-scales the HDMI feed coming from the Wii.

Couldn't be happier
I was skeptical at first since all the reviews are so good. Put those worries to bed right now! It works exactly as expected. I wondered if I'd need to use an audio cable. NOPE. Audio goes through the HDMI perfectly. But it's great that we have the option for sound. Didn't notice any lag and it looks great! Couldn't be happier with it. Exactly what I needed in a package that doesn't require additional power and blends in with the console.

This worked perfectly for about 4 weeks. And then ...
This worked perfectly for about 4 weeks. And then it would intermittently stop working at random times but I learned to live with it. After about 4 months, it would more not work more often than it does. I tried contacting the seller via feedback/email but they ignored me.

Worked great for a couple of months and has now died
Worked great for a couple of months and has now died. I have tried unplugging everything and letting it sit over night (in case of capacitor holding charge in memory). Nothing. Still will not even flicker.

quite a neat item with better clean results
after trying this item compared to the composite cable its really a better way to play wii games as well as gamecube games on my compatible wiii tried F-Zero GX between composite & this HD converter and i have to say it is cleaner as i tried lightning thunder road & big blue and i will not go back to composite ever again .of course you have to go to the wii settings to change the screen display to do soyou might even go to component cables for better results but this item does the job nicely .

Great converter
Plug this into the back of your Wii, plug an HDMI cable into it and into your TV/monitor and it does exactly what its supposed to do. Our Wii is now used on a TV that has only HDMI inputs. Picture is as clear or clearer than before.
