A simple formula from an expert in Philips that can make your life easy when it comes to decide watt value of LED tube light
I will bring to you a very simple formula that should tell you what should be the watt value for the tube light you want to buy, and it comes from a reliable source Philips. So, you can forget all confusing numbers like 1700 lumen, 6500k, and all blah-blah.Other reviewers said the lighting is good 18w (LED), can replace 40w old fluorescent tube lights and still may give more light than old ones. So, I bought two of Crompton's but wasn't satisfied with the amount of light. People spoke of lumens and what not which only confused me, did not enlighten. I thought it may have something to do with room's exact dimensions. But, after speaking to the right person in Philips, I realized all that wasn't necessary to get into if I needed a simple solution which can suit any layman.Though I had written to Crompton, they never bothered to respond to my email or phone. Philips, however, acknowledged each of my correspondence and replied too, but in effect, they kept shunting me from one department/person to another. I had decided not to give up and finally got the right man.I had given exact dimensions of each room in my email which he had read, but I also told him now I want a simple solution. Lesser the complexities in your suggestion better it would be for me.He thought for a moment and asked me in which room you are using how many tube lights and what is the wattage value. I told him "3 in the living room and one-one in each bedroom, and all are 40w".He asked me: "Are you fully satisfied with their luminosity based on specific locations you have fitted them"? I said: "Yes, for past 12 years I did not have to make an alteration".Then he gave me the solution: "Since you have 40w fluorescent tube lights put at strategic places in each room and you have been fully satisfied with that arrangement, I would suggest that simply make it half for the LED tube lights". That means: Replace each 40w fluorescent tube lights with 20w LED tube light without changing the location and number of batons and tubes. I followed him thereafter and I am happy that I feel satisfied.P.S.: When the first tube light was being fitted by my veteran electrician, he murmured "For LED tube lights Crompton is no good. I was one of them who were invited at Mumbai office of Crompton to educate us about their product. This 18-watt tube light at this position won't be sufficient for you". I ignored his comment and ordered another Crompton, this time 20 watt. But, I felt as if it was not the right choice. So, for my third tube light, I ordered for Wipro Garnet 20w and felt better with my selection. Previous two selections looked to me a waste of money.

Brighter than a 40W Fluorescent Tube for a 100 sq feet room
Purchase Date - 22/01/2017Delivered On - 25/01/2017Location - KolkataPrice - Rs 379Though I have been using LED bulbs for a few years now, this is the very first LED Batten that I bought. I was a bit apprehensive of how an LED batten would perform considering that I was used to living/ working under traditional Fluorescent tubelights and that LED bulbs cast sharp shadows and are a bit harsh to the eyes.Coming to the build quality of this batten: It is sleek, light and looks stylish. The pack comes with clips to help install the batten on your wall.Light output - I have installed this batten in a 100 sq feet room and the light output is considerably brighter than a 40W fluorescent tube. It took me a couple of days to get adjusted to the additional brightness. It's brighter but not so bright that would make you uncomfortable.Colour temp is 6500K (Cool daylight) - Slightly cooler than a normal fluorescent tube.I was pleasantly surprised to see that unlike an LED bulb, this LED batten doesn't cast sharp shadows. The diffuser is well designed and spreads the light uniformly across the room.Overall, I am very happy with the product and have already ordered another one for my living room. This product comes with a 2 year warranty and considering it's from the house of Crompton, you can trust its reliability.P.S - Do not try to judge the brightness of this batten by plugging the wires into the socket at eye level. I did that and was initially disappointed as I found the light to be significantly lower than my previous fluorescent tube. However, when I installed it up on the wall, the light was much brighter. So I'd recommend that install the batten first and then judge the brightness.

Totally satisfied!
I am writing this after 6 months of usage. So this is a late usage review.I am living in a rented apartment and here, we had lights of CFL tubes. They used to get damaged frequently, either the starter or the tubes themselves and getting them repaired for free required us giving a complaint to the maintenance staff. They were often lazy and we have to go around it for days.So i eventually decided to replace the entire lighting system with these LED tubes. My observations are:1) they are as bright as cfl tubes, if not slightly more.2) they look more slim and tidy and have just one double core wire coming out of it for the AC current input. All the circuitry is concealed within the tube.3) the tube turns on instantly and turns off instantly when using the switch. No startup delay.4) the tube is uniformly illuminating. No individual LEDs are visible.5) it has not fused nor have given any problems so far. Working fine.6) they come with easy mounting clips and screws that fit into my old CFL tube screw holes on the wall. Then there is the job of simply fitting the LED tube onto the mounting clips. No effort at all!7) they consume less energy than CFL tubes.I am totally satisfied with these LED tubes and I'm certain that I'll never go back to buying CFL tubes again. Super easy installation and usage. No problems at all so far.I highly recommend this. Please press the *helpful* button if you found this review useful.
