Hosa D100S-2 CAIG DeoxIT Contact Cleaner, 100% Spray, 2 oz

I had a scratchy tone pot and used my old contact cleaner and it made it worse. It not only made it scratchy but then felt like sand was in it. This cleaned it up and made it operate smooth and easy. Highly recommend the stuff. This is quality. The only draw back is the 2 oz. can. But a little goes a long way.

Deoxit D100 cleaned my volume pots on my 1970's Sansui receiver. This stuff works perfectly. No more scratchy sound when adjusting volume. I highly recommend this product when a 100% concentration of Deoxit is required.

It's great knowing a product works, when you may otherwise question if it actually works. I have a John Deere 790 tractor that had major battery cable corrosion issues and until I cut and spliced new cables onto it, I used this on the exposed corroded wire coming off the leads to get the tractor to start. Previous attempts at jiggling the cables to even jumping it would not work, but a few shots of the DeoxIT on the cables and it cranked and started right up, and I was able to start it up right up every time afterward for two weeks until I had the time to actually cut, splice, and repair the cables. I use this on all my car battery terminals and any exposed wires on those too, to keep everything working properly. The DeoxIT is also great at getting my kids toys working again if they've been left with the batteries in them too long and the batteries leak and corrode the contacts inside the toy. Pop out bad batteries, spray this on the contacts and put in new batteries and the toys come back to life.

After reading around online, and even from the CAIG site, and forums, I decided to get DeoxIT D100 instead of D5. The reason is, CAIG specifically recommends D100 for potentiometers (pots), not D5, according to one of their own infographics, especially for contact cleaning high-end audio components. And for good reason, I suffered none of the issues of smell, or fumes, typical of D5, and it works like a charm. The only catches are, you only get one spray per press of the nozzle, and the straw could be easier/better with mounting. Otherwise, there's less mess, more control of spraying by limiting the sprays/presses, and less risk of dangerous fumes and smell. So far I've used it to clean pots on my guitar pedals, and have felt safe doing so. It may take more sprays than I'd like, and I may have to quickly turn the knobs for cleaning immediately between sprays, but it's a small price to pay for ensuring less degradation of my components during cleaning and maintenance, especially over the life of my equipment. I would highly recommend this over D5 for cleaning guitar pots, and pedal pots.

I took my first electronics course 45 years ago and have always disassembled guitar amps to get to the backside of the pots for cleaning. I heard about deoxit and thought I’d give it a try as I’d rather not take amps apart. First I laid the amps on their backs so that gravity would help get the spray down into the pots. On amp #1 this worked fairly well but still had some noise especially on one of the pots. I moved on to amp #2 it worked on all but 2 of the pots. Deoxit does not spray hard it reminds me of a penetrating oil and I did want to lubricate the pots as well as cleaning them. After giving it some thought I decided to try spraying them out with a higher pressure contact cleaner then follow up with deoxit for the additional cleaning and lubricants that it offers. This seemed to work better and almost completely eliminated the noise on amp #2. After many applications and even disassembling amp #1 I determined that I would have to replace one of the pots - cleaning it was not going to work so I ordered it. What I finally came up with completely eliminated noise on all but the pot that needs replacement. Step 1. Use deoxit on each pot individually one at a time, (you have to take each knob off of course to get the deoxit down each shaft) working it in by moving the pot up and down. Step 2. After giving the deoxit some time to “work” use a higher pressure contact cleaner to blast out anything that’s been loosened up, again spinning the pots to work it in. Step 3. Repeat step 1 to get the lubricating benefit of the deoxit. This works even on stubborn pots (except the one on amp #1 that needs replacing) So I give it 4 stars because it needed some help but ended up doing the job.

I bought this Deoxit to clean the pots and switches on my 1978 Gibson Grabber 3 bass guitar and it worked great! I had some noise and the switch was not working properly but now it is as good as new. Since it worked so well with the bass I tried it on my 500 watt bass amp that had been in my closet for 15 years because the volume knob created this terrifying pop when you turn it up or down. After I sprayed it with the Deoxit, not a bit of noise. It works like it did when it was new. If you have any old electronics that have dirty switches or pots this is the stuff to get. It's a little expensive but it goes a long way.

This stuff works miracles. Nothing better for a scratchy volume control. Makes all batteries last longer - really. Intermittent and noisy audio/video connectors healed instantly. Car battery, light bulbs, wiring harness connections, spark plug wires - it its an electrical connection- use it! I have been using this stuff since the '70's when an engineer from Singer Manufacturing showed me how it fixed the volume control on a Caramate Projector when it was called Cramolin Red. Same stuff, same miraculous results. Just a tiny mist is all you need.

Arrived without pressure inside of can rendering it useless.

Sono stato impossibilitato dall'usare questa bomboletta spray poiché la parte di gas compresso di trasporto risultava apparentemente intasata. Inqualificabile inoltre trovare l'etichetta in Inglese coperta da quella in tedesco per un prodotto che viene pagato circa 330 EUR per 400 ml che è uno standard di carica per le bombolette spray.
