I bought this to travel on a flight from California to Wisconsin over Christmas. My mini-schnauzer pup had never been on a plane. He's about 16 pounds and 13" at the shoulder. As some folks have said it was pretty hard to get the support wires down the length (not the arching ones) in by myself, but I was able to do it with a bit of muscle. That was all I had to do to put it together as the arching wires were already in. It would probably be easier with 2 people. That said, it is a very sturdy carrier. I got no guff from airline staff and it fit well under the seats. I took my pup out in it in the car a couple of times before our trip and he did great. As you can see in the photos it sticks out a bit under the seat, but the flight attendants didn't say a thing about it. I am 5'11" and I still didn't feel too crowded.Pros:The firm plastic that slides in on the bottom keeps the bottom from sagging.The foam pad is soft and comfortable for my pup.The door at the front is easy to open and is sturdy mesh so your pet can look out or it can be covered with a velcro panel that rolls up if your pet would prefer to not see out.There are also 2 smaller openings at the top that can open as a vent or stay closed. The front one on the top can be opened all the way so that you can reach in and check on your pet. There is another one in the back. All of these vents make it nice when the plane get stuffy.The 4 point shoulder strap is great so that it frees up your hands so you can carry other luggage.Cons:Only 1....I wish it was easy to take out the arching support rods to store it away in a more compact manner. I did take out the lengthwise support rods which were much easier to take out than put in and I hope I don't regret that the next time I go to use it, but it did make it a bit easier to store.

So I have a bad experience prior to purchasing this product and trying to fly an animal. Short story I was turned away at Denver international and a vet had to come to the airport so I didn't miss my flight. Extremely expensive FYI. So a few years later I attempted this feat again with a Sturdi bag. The difference in quality was night and day. The inside is well designed and super Sturdi haha but the outside is a canvas with easy carrying straps or handles. This fit perfectly under my southwest seat during flight and I made it through with absolutely no resistance. With that being said please do not attempt flying a dog that will barely fit in the carrier you will be turned away at check in. Check the pictures to see my cute daschund enjoying our flight.

Very Good product, do the job! After an exhaustive search for pet carrier to transport my 15 pounds cat overseas I found this one. I strongly recommend this product to bring your pet in cabin with you. My cats flew comfortably for about 24 hours (from Pittsburgh to Sweden). The carrier is extremely flexible so even the large one fits under the aircraft seat with no problems. It has a top open that was good to pet them when they were stressed or scared. It can be completely closed too, what is very helpful in case of cats that doesn't like a lot of people around, this helped them to stay calm. Beside this, it is very discrete, almost nobody guess I had pets inside it, even people from the airlineThe carrier is extremely well built, the plastic mesh is very resistant. What is very important because in case of cats, they can try to make a rip on mesh to escape. This happened with my 15 pound cat when I tried sherpa (most famous brand), after 30 minutes inside it, he made a rip in carrier and escape (see last picture). Imagine if this happen during the flight! On the other hand in Sturdi carrier, he feels very comfortable during all trip. So, if you have a cat, no doubt this carrier is the best to travel with him, I strongly recommend it!

We have loved and used this SturdiBag for three years. John Christopher, our 15 lb Bichon Frise, LOVES his bag. He climbs in, he refuses to get out, and will just hang out there if we left it out. Sadly on our last trip, one of the plastic clasps broke. I know that SturdiBag has a lifetime warranty so I emailed the company with pictures of the product, the broken clasp, and a description of our dog and our use (sporadically). Within a day, they responded that this should not have happened and that this is a defective bag. They said they would send a replacement bag immediately. Less than a week from my initial response, I have a brand new bag and I will send back my defective bag. What an amazing company! Thank you StudiBag for making a great product and for standing by your warranty with such speediness and customer dedication. You have a customer for life. Dog owners, quick tip, we line the fleece cushion with a wee-wee pad. It makes it much easier to keep clean.

This product is top of the line for cat carriers. The quality of the materials is right up there. The attention to detail, everything has been considered. It also has the ability to change the height without collapsing on our cat. Dexter is a 12 pound long hair and it’s perfect for him and the Air Canada flights we’re using it for.

My dog slept all the time and it was very light to carry.

Excellent quality strong carrier. Minimal easy assembly required. Carrier is strong but light which is very important as my catsis are heavy Maine Coons. Carrier feels robust and my cats feel secure in it so all round excellent purchase.

It would be helpful to include what standard-size dog breeds actually are appropriate for these bags.The large was too small for my petite Smooth Fox Terrier.With zero time to exchange it for the bigger bag, I had to spend almost as much as the bag itself to have the upholsterer insert a panel so that the dog would be able to stand and turn around in it. Without that major adjustment she would not have been allowed to travel on the plane.

Second one purchased. Used for large cats. Best carriers ever.
