Great stories and history learning in one.
Bought to encourage my grand-daughter to read the books and it has worked brilliantly. She loves the stories now. Cleverly written stories combining adventure and lots of history learning for children.

Nowhere near as gripping as the books
The books are gripping and educational and the trailer of this series looked promising, and it was alright but we couldn't get into it. It sticks very closely to the book, the actors look exactly like the characters are described. Hard to pinpoint why it didn't quite work for us.

Informative and really good value, a++++++++!!!!
I'd watched the roman mysteries series on CBBC and decided i wanted the dvd. This dvd is well made and is a bundle of fun for youngsters and young adults alike. Offers good humour and gives a real insight into what the roman times were actually like. An absolute bargain at £3.39 (bought on 24th December 2010). Hope this helps.

A Delight
There is a quiet charm about this series in contrast with the shrill drivel usually aimed at children.

Good
Sadly, last disk was out of place, it was scratched, but only realised this long after purchase. Sadly I do not know how it ends :( but the rest was good. Very enjoyable and entertaining.

Famous five go to Rome.
Not really very convincing as another time and place. The children have modern attitudes and sometimes knowledge. The main character is particularly strident and annoying. Of course it is difficult to achieve. Even the on the whole better acted Caedfal can be a bit twee at times. Quite reasonable entertainment.
