Great buy
This goal is much sturdier and better to practice on at home. Our old goal was a flimsy plastic that wasn’t very sturdy. Our boys love basketball and it was a great value for the money!

Don't waste your money.
We purchased this hoop for our kids, didn't even make it to the second step. The base "pole" would not sit flush with the base, we contacted Franklin directly, 2 days later and we were told that they "would try and locate the part" and ship it out to us; another 2 days has passed and we were told it was the pole, not the base. WRONG, we had Amazon do an exchange, the base was not stamped wide enough - thus manufacturing issue and clearly easy to see in photos we sent them. We assembled the second set, the directions were not clear in relation to what bolts to use; thank goodness for photos and common sense. As we were finishing up the assembly we noticed the top supports to have had the powder coating chipping off revealing raw metal. If you check Franklins site and look under replacement parts, they do not even have a category for basketball hoops - only the ones that slip on a door. Horrible customer service, no quality check on these parts - it's obvious since both sets of upper supports had powder coat coming off and it was red. So this will be #2 coming back at their expense to disassemble and ship. Not worth your time or hassle.***2 year follow up, the backboard swelled up and it became a bow and parts of it came out of the frame, it started to crack and broke into pieces, the entire backboard was black from the sunBiggest piece of garbage

Overall I like this basketball hoop, but it does have some issues.
Overall I like this basketball hoop, but it does have some issues. For the sake of clarity I'm going to break this down into categories.Delivery: Like another user, mine arrived with a few scratches. Didn't think much of it until I left it outside for 24 hours after building it and we had a downpour. All it took was that one day for some slight rust to develop on the scratch marks. Not a deal breaker and this thing will obviously take some beatings, but not exactly thrilled with the packing job.Assembly: Instructions were fine, but could have been better. Illustrations instead of any helpful text. What was especially odd was that at each step there was a spot for "notes" and all it would say is something like "see illustration." Not very helpful. Everything was fine for me except near the end when it came time to attach the backboard to the pole. Some more information about how to do this would have been helpful. As others have said, for the most part forget the tools provided. Use a socket set and you'll save a lot of time.Safety: Directions say to fill with 337 pounds of sand. Why 337 and not 350 I have no idea. In any case, it fits and you could probably get 350 in there if you tried. Found that this was more than enough weight to keep it upright. A major point to stress for potential users: Use sand and not water. If you used water with this and there was a leak this thing will easily fall over and, as the directions say, it could kill someone. Not joking. The base needs to be weighted down and you need to know the weight is always there so don't use water.Ease of use: And by this I mean moving it around. The description on Amazon says this is easily movable with the front wheels. Don't you believe it for a second. The whole thing weighs over 400 pounds with the sand. I don't think easy has anything to do with it, at least not if you're using this outside. We have ours resting in the grass with the hoop over the paved driveway. Moving this thing is not easy, end of story.Features: Has protective padding on the poll. I'd rather have had some sort of rebound ramp so that when you're playing solo and make a basket the ball rolls back to you. It's a feature on hoops cheaper than this one.Because you need sand to fill the base plan on spending about $25 to fill it.I can't give this a five star rating, but it feels solid and well made.

Missing parts
We ordered this for our son in December 2020 for Christmas but we live in the Midwest (weather) so we just opened it last week to put it together and we are missing a bunch of parts. We have called 3 times and all we get is a recording and we have left 3 messages and nobody calls us back. Very frustrating and can't return it. Not sure what else to do as our son is wishing he had a basketball hoop to use.
