Mediocrity disguised as depth
Always obfoscating, there seem to be no end of mediocrity. Lacan has only one virtue: acknowledging Freud's importance. This is because he had had a Catholic education, and Freud builds on the Catholic foundation. However, Freud also strove to reform and overcome the Catholic Church, unfortunately without success, since the Catholic Church is still thriving. It baffles me, always has, when I see how these mediocre minds manage to take an original thinker's short work and inflate it beyond proportion. 400 pages could be reduced to 15. But, of course Lacan had to make living from jargon. Besides, he is too eager to show his encyclopedic learning by mentioning named, e.g. Hegel, Heidegger etc., both men as ignorant and unphilosophical as a baboon. Thinking cannot be learned and taught, otherwise we would have created the perfect society right at the beginning of history.

A must read
A refreshing reminder of the genius of Lacan and his many contributions. The seminar on Anxiety still resonates across the years.
