It is a nice sharp cutter and you can cut a hair's width ...
To unlock this, pull the cutter arm handle away from the cutting board, sideways. Also, if you are cutting one sheet, watch that it doesn't go under the white backstop. In fact, to help get square cuts make sure the base metal edge is lined up with your sheet on both the close side to you and the far side (near the cutter arm hinge.) I am cutting photos so getting square cuts is important. It is a nice sharp cutter and you can cut a hair's width of paper off if you need.

Blade was dull after a few uses
This paper cutter was a waste of $38.00. I was excited about this product because of the size and the fact that it was supposed to be suitable for professional use. After just a few uses the blade was too dull to use. Unfortunately, I only had 30 days to return it and missed the deadline. I'm a do-it-your-self person so I'll try to figure out what I can use the board for. I have a large lot with lots of weeds around the perimeter. Maybe I can use the blade as a machete.

Terrible product, I am returning it.
Never been so disappointed in a product. Will not cut a straight line. The back bar or top bar, it is bowed, making it impossible to cut a straight cut.

The blade arrived crooked or bent, so the cuts are not as precise as needed but I was able to rig the board to mark off the lines to keep the paper where it needs to be.
