Excellent Hot or Cold
This is a review of the organic Gunpowder Green variety. The tea is great. The leaves are rolled in attractive balls that release as water hits them (explaining the gunpowder name). I enjoy this either hot (steeped for about a minute with 180 degree water), where I frequently have enough flavor left for a second steeping, or as a cold brew tea. You can find lots of recipes online, but this makes an almost perfect replica of the Itoen brand iced bottled teas. Very refreshing and crisp on a hot summer day!

I wouldn't call this gunpowder
It's a great green tea, unfortunately I personally wouldn't call it gunpowder. It's very loosely rolled, doesn't quite capture the smokiness and depth of other gun powder teas. It does have a great deep floral flavor typical of pan fired greens but that's exactly what I'd call this, a loose leaf pan fired green. Gunpowder green should have tight hand rolled leaves that resemble... Gunpowder. This resembles dried loose leaf tea.

Divine-and I MEAN it!
I used to drink Monster and coffee like water-I was an ER nurse, and we chain smoked outside and drank caffeine like there were no tomorrow! Now that Iโm 55, I canโt handle coffe on my stomach, so I am re-exploring various teas! I used to be a big green tea drinker-so I know a lot about it, sooooo! The tea smells lovely-itโs a HUGE package for the price of organic tea. Some people frown on gunpowder tea-but I appreciate the taste. I brewed 2 cups-carefully got the water to around 180 degrees. First cup-1 minute in my French press, the second cup, 3 minutes-perfection for my taste! A little raw honey-and I was in heaven. The 1 minute brew was lovely, sweet and tasty. I just prefer a bit more astringent but not to the point of bitter-and this tea did not disappoint! My 14 year old daughter drinks homemade matcha lattes every morning-but I may turn her on to this too-I donโt want her going down the caffeine highway way too young. And yes I know there is a bit of caffeine-but not like energy drinks kids try and sneak these days!Peace! โ๏ธ

Super new to drinking tea, but this stuff is great!
I am new to drinking tea, I won't lie. And the only other tea I've tried was a Rooibos Green Tea that was in much smaller particles. While I liked the taste, I didn't notice any effects on my energy levels or overall health. When that ran out, I decided to try a different brand and settled on this due to the price per ounce and the overwhelmingly popular reviews. I can definitely see why people like this so much! The biggest difference I've noticed in this is the size of the particles. This is tightly rolled "pellets" according to the listing, which will definitely explain why it expands so much while brewing. I can put a teaspoon of dry tea in the infuser and when I'm ready to drink it, it has expanded to 4 or 5 times that amount in wet leaves. So this is great if you have an infuser that allows it to uncurl properly, but if theres not enough room, I'm not sure if it will brew properly. I'm honestly not sure how this works.I have also noticed a huge difference in the energy levels this gives me. I have completely stopped drinking coffee and switched to this. I have more energy, it goes down easier, I don't get that gross sweaty feeling that coffee gives me, and I just feel "cleaner" overall. I am officially a fan of Green Tea!I did not like the taste at first as it was much more bitter than the kind I had been drinking, but I've found that if I add a small amount of high quality honey into it, it brings it down a notch and I really enjoy it. I'm incredibly happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it!Almost forgot to say that it would be a good idea to find a good airtight container to store most of this until you need it. I've moved about 2/3 of this bag into a container to keep it from going stale or losing nutrients. Its a big bag.

I switched from another brand costing 50% more
I am on my third pound of Davidson's Gunpowder Green Tea. Eleven months ago, I switched from Positively Tea Organic Gunpowder (Organic Pinhead Gunpowder Green Tea, Loose Leaf Bag, Positively Tea LLC. (1 lb.)), which is 50% more expensive than Davidson's for the identical quantity. I am not a tea expert by any means, but I can tell the difference in aroma and taste between tea bags and $300 per pound loose-leaf. I have found that I am recently using Davidson's at a faster pace, largely because my daughter likes iced green tea and I have found that I do too. I notice that Davidson's has a more floral aroma than any other loose-leaf tea I have purchased, including Positively Tea. Davidson's is also the least bitter, even if you leave it steep for a long time. In fact, I don't remove my leaves until I brew the next cup. I avoid the expense and bother of using a tea bag or tea strainer ball. I am big believer in the antioxidant and fat-melting effects of green tea, especially at the waist line. Green tea also improves my focus without the jitteriness of coffee or Rockstar. As with any tea, there are some easy, no-cost tips to make drinking it a more pleasant experience. First, don't microwave or boil the water. Steep in hot water that has not been boiled. Boiled water makes flat tea. Second, pour a teaspoon of loose-leaf into a jumbo ceramic or glass mug. Avoid paper tea bags, plastic mugs, or stainless steel tea balls or mugs since these materials can alter the taste. Thirdly, if you are not filtering your water, chill your tap water in a glass bottle in the refrigerator for 24 hours prior to heating. This can reduce the taste chlorine, since it tends to gas-out of solution over time. I am certain that the tea experts have more precise tips for the best cup of tea, but I am listing what works for me in the office and does not cause me any added inconvenience.

Delicious
I was looking to replace microplastic laden grocery store tea bags with loose tea and didn't really know where to start. I just randomly chose this tea and I got lucky. This is makes tea that turned my daily 2 cups of green tea "for health" into something I actually enjoy.
