For a very sweet tooth!
Wish I hadn't bothered, recipes too many ingredients and sugar galore, the opposite to what I'd hoped. I'm sure some would love it!

Not very healthy for children
I bought this book for one of the children in my life. Its okay. It includes a range of ice lollies, drinks, milkshakes and ice creams. With summer round the corner, your children may enjoy this book. I have knocked off three stars because-1. It's a bit patronising- typical nanny state safety info, ie 'adult supervision is required for all recipes, ask an adult for help using anything electrical, wash your hands before and after cooking, 'etc etc. Our children aren't stupid. They know to wash their hands, they know not to stick their hands in an electric blender etc. My personal favourite 'pour ingredients into the moulds or trays carefully- uses jugs or sprouted containers' basic common sense that all children know without having to be told.2. Artificial colours are recommended to give some recipes vibrant colours, such as in party pops and layered lollies and a few more. In a time when we are trying to keep our children away from artificial colours and other nasties, you'd think the publishers of this CHILDRENS book would take note.3.some recipes are there simply to fill space such as cola lollies. Simply fill your moulds with cola, freeze and eat. WOW!On the plus side, there are some nice healthy drinks such as' San Francisco' using orange, lemon, pineapple and grapefruit juices and the names of the recipes are interesting to children, such as vampires breath and shipwreck. The photographs are also very appealing to children, using bright colours and interesting backdrops, rocket lollies are pictured against a dark blue background with white stars.I doubt we will have much use for this book. Instead I recommend ice lollies and other fruity frozen treats by Ryland, Peters and Small. Loads of fruit and no nasties.

Good for the money
Bought from a reseller, so was v good value. Large format, attractive graphics, has a few nice ideas. However over half of the recipes are for ice cream or drinks rather than ice lollies. I guess I can understand that as there can't be that many original things to do with ice lollies.

Icy treats
A huge range of ideas to create some lovely frozen treats - ice cream mousses, lollies and sundaes. The pictures are so mouth-watering, children will be inspired to get into the kitchen and produce some lovely summery treats. As with the other books in the series, there are clear step-by-step instructions and ingredients lists, together with guidance where adult help is needed. The only things I would like to see added to this excellent series would be an indication of the level of difficulty and the anticipated time required - and possibly a calorie count, although I appreciate there is a difficult balance to be achieved between this and ensuring that children do not obsess about calories and weight.

Fab Book!
Bought this book for my seven year old and we had a great time making a few of the recipes over the period of hot weather we had recently. The safety tips included at the beginning are standard in a cookery book and I found most of them pretty helpful!Loved the berry pops and also the vanilla ice cream. The recipes range from really easy, i.e the cola pops to fairly difficult, e.g some of the sorbets, but remember this is a children's book! Would def recommend.
