Barbie Collector Mad Men Collection Joan Holloway Doll

Anyone who is a fan of Mad Man and the formidable character of Joan Holloway would love this doll. I know some reviewers have said that Barbie is not a good example for young girls, and that Joan's body type is not properly represented here. I have to say that this line of Barbie dolls is not a toy meant for kids--It is a collector's doll for grown-ups. Also, Joan DOES have a thicker, curvier body which sets her apart from other Barbies--In the Barbie would, this IS Joan. The designers of this doll should be congratulated on the incredible attention to detail that was put into this doll. Joan is perfect! From her extra curvy body (her foundation garments are padded to create an extra curvy silhouette)to her fabulous outfit and hairstyle---she even has her signature gold pen on a chain--no detail was left out! My favorite thing about this doll is that the Mad Men line of dolls uses the more Retro style Silkstone Barbies, which works so well with the 1960's Mad Men theme. This doll is well worth the price tag. Between the packaging and all the wonderful details, Joan is a must have!

They have taken the beautiful, voluptuous Joan and flattened her curves and her appeal. This grown woman now has the figure of a fourteen year old boy, like every other ridiculous model out there. Shame on them for taking a confident and refreshing icon of empowerment and making her into well, just another Barbie.But yes, this toy is educational--it continues Mattel's mission to teach girls to hate their bodies and starve themselves into pre-pubescent body type.

This doll is gorgeous!! I am so pleased. I am a huge Mad Men fan and Joan is hands down my favorite character. I was a little unsure about spending the money but every time I see it it makes me smile so therefor worth very penny.

We bought this doll for our office secretary, who we all refer to as "Joanie" because she runs things so smoothly! I love the style and the outfit on the doll. The only issue I would have is that typically, the doll is a "Barbie" and is not voluptuous the way Joan is on the show. She is way too skinny! Otherwise, she is fabulous.

As well-packaged as possible, would be excellent if paired with an airtight, cylindrical/circular display, case---for future notice. Happy with the cost, best of all sellers.

Joan Barbie is perfectly beautiful especially in soapstone. Flawless! I'm so impressed with Joan I plan to add Betty Draper Barbie to my collection as well.

My daughter works for an Ad agency, so I got this for her birthday, she loves the show and this is her favorite character. Not really a toy, this is something to put on your desk or credenza for starting conversations...works!

I have to say I've been a Mad Men fan for two years. Joan is undoubtedly my favorite character and being a gay man in my late 20s who didn't have sisters, I pined to be allowed to play with Barbies when I was growing up. What is better than a Joan Holloway Barbie? Nothing.Yes, it's true, she is a very slender interpretation of our favorite sassy office manager. But it's a doll. It's not supposed to be the perfect likeness. Have you seen what Don's doll looks like? He looks awful. This is a great likeness of Joanie, especially in the classic 60s Barbie form. Her hair and outfit are perfect. I unbuttoned her dress as much as it would allow and she truly does have period appropriate undergarments, but I wouldn't count on seeing her without her dress on unless you're ok with it not going back on without a fight. I debate getting a second because I am fearful that throughout the years I may lose her shoes or mess her hair too.She really is such a beautiful doll that I didn't want to take her out of the box, but how could I not? The packaging is gorgeous and I felt like a kid on Christmas when she was delivered. I highly recommend this to any fan. If I end up in an office, I'm taking her with me. Just in case of a John Deere tractor accident.For now, I can't decide if I want the other three. But I am completely happy with my Joanie.
