Geeni TAP Smart Light Switch, White, 1 Switch - Requires Neutral Wire - Works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home Requires 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

I have purchased a number of different styles of smart switches to work with the SmartLife app. While this one isn't perfect it's the best available right now in my opinion. Unique to this switch is a small rocker under the main switch -- clicking the left side reset/reconnects the switch with existing settings, while clicking the right side is used to pair with the app. The reset function allows you to "reboot" the switch with existing settings without cycling the power at the circuit breaker.The blue Wifi symbol is lit all the time, and the green LED lights up when the switch is on. Both of these are a little "fuzzy" in appearance but are readily visible in almost all lighting conditions while simultaneously not being obnoxious.The white color of this plastic is a pretty good match for standard switchplates from Levition or Lutron, unlike some other brands. There is a metal bracket behind the plastic that has threads for the switchplate screws. Unfortunately this means that the short screws found with "screwless" wallplates do not reach. I had to replace them with 6-32 3/8" screws from a hardware store. In addition the metal bracket is in two parts, and only one part is attached to the ground wire. The ground wire attaches only to the top part (and not to any internal circuit board). I would prefer an all plastic mounting (and no ground wire) or a full metal plate (such as the Dewenwils switch sold on Amazon). The thicker mounting also does not allow the switch to protrude into standard cover plates as fully as a true Decora-style switch but it's not bad.The relay clicking noise isn't that loud and doesn't have a cheesy "sproing" sound like some.I'm still looking forward to the day where manufacturers understand that these switches go into real homes where they are typically wired in multi-gang setups and should work flawlessly with industry standard mountings. Also would love to see a switch where you click up/on and down/off rather than a button that toggles between on/off.But for now... about the best available. Photo shows installation with an Eaton 9522WS Wallplate. Note how edges of switch are recessed behind wallplate a little more than they should be.

I've used Geeni/Merkury Innovations for all of my smart bulbs and plugs. I've enjoyed every product so far. This purchase was a little different as it required basic electrical work of replacing a light switch. Believe it or not, replacing a light switch is pretty easy if you understand what you're doing and how it works. Putting this light switch back into the gang box on the wall was the issue. It was large and trying to properly squeeze all of the wires back into the box was a project! I image not everyone will have that issue but be warned that this switch is large (the part that's in the wall). Other than that this is a high quality product that works flawlessly and looks nice once it is installed.

I purchased this light switch because it was cheaper than the Alexa enabled switches selling at the local Lowes hardware. After I got the switch wired in place, which was easy since the connections are all well marked, I could not get it to connect to my WiFi network. Several phone calls and emails to Geeni were not helpful. First the tech person wanted a picture of the switch, then she asked for a video of me pressing the reset button. I guess she did not believe me when I told her that the unit was not resetting when I pressed it. After several d.ays of email exchanges with no change except they kept telling me the unit should reset and me telling them it wasn't, I gave up and bought an Eaton smart switch from Lowes. It was about twice as much money but it immediately connected to my WiFi and Alexa.

I searched Geeni down to buy this certain brand. I love their app that they have with the switch. I happen to buy a long time ago two plug ins and I had this other brand light switch. I hate the app that the other brand has it's too slow, Geeni's app works great. If you want to schedule that the light turns on at a certain time and turn off you can. It's so easy to figure out. If you are an hour away and want the lights on you can it's so easy. You never have to wait for it to boot up it just pops right up. Just love it!!

I have bought a number of Geeni products as I "smartify" my house. In most cases, you plug them in, open the app, it sees them, you hand them off to Google Home and away you go. These bad boys .... nope. No amount of fiddling or resetting or clearing of caches was going to make the Geeni App see this product. By the time I got to these guys I had set up 7-8 other Geeni devices so I know what was supposed to happen. Tech support? Typical offshore script readers who "escalated" my problem. Post on website help - same thing. Over a week later - nothing from them. After much searching I discovered the Smart Life app - which saw the switches immediately, passed them over to Google and they work fine. Sad that I had to go find a third party app because the manufacturers app can't work with their own product. Scary too that going forward I now know that there will be no technical support forthcoming for these products. Security updates? Who knows? Unfortunate because the products all seem to work well. With just a little more money spent on better customer support they would have a five star product. Here's hoping they get the message.

I have 2 dimmers. 2 switches and 4 bulbs in the house. No issues. works great.Only down side is i live in the country. So when internet drops connections stop. Beyond that they are perfect.easy use.TO NOTE:Needs power to switch to pass through to lightsNeeds its own account with Geeni. Easy to setup and workApp is simple to use. Alex integration is simple
