The New Sewing with a Serger (The Singer sewing reference library)

I've just bought a serger, took one look at the instruction book and thought 'I need more than this'. This is a very well written and illustrated book and gives lots of info on general use and the sort of problems a novice will encounter trying to use a serger for the first time. Having read this book I am much more confident about tackling my projects.

This book was very helpful when using my overlocker. The illustrations are brilliant, showing you how to thread the machine and the different stitches

As anyone with a serger/overlocker will know, they can be tricky beasts. This book is the best I have seen, the illustrations are superb and the explanations clear, which is not always the case with the machine instruction manuals.

It arrived in good condition, and although I haven't used the information yet, I think this book will be very useful in the future. I have had a serger/overlocker for about a year, but I'm still learning, and will be for a long time.

I wish I had this when I first purchased my overlocker. The clear illustrations made the instructions so easy to follow

Great book for reference and to learn from - full of interesting trouble-shooting tips.

I am extremely disappointed in the condition of this book for the price I have paid It was advertised as "Used, good, average wear, reasonable shape" I have received the book and I would consider it to be "Used average to poor" The front cover top and bottom corners are both turned and splitting. The whole of the book has been folded vertically twice so that every page has a double vertical crease down it. I appreciate I have bought it second hand but I bought it trusting it was an accurate description of the condition.

I am a novice to the serger world. This book is fantastic if you own a serger.I bought a new Quantum Singer Serger last month (I did a lot of research-didn't want an expensive one so I bought this one), and after hours of trying to get it to work, I finally did a couple of overlocking projects. They went well, however, the serger instructions that came with the serger, is not enough information to complete the job.I bought this book thru Amazon, and it is worth it's weight in gold! It walks you thru step by step on how a serger works. It then guides you thru when to use the different types of pressure feet and how they work with woven fabrics and the different types of threads available for your serger.I am still reading this book; I sit in bed every night and read a few pages. It has opend my mind on how these little power machines can be so helpful with regular sewing, or on some projects, they stand alone. It is a wonderful book to use for reference when your machine gobbles up your fabric and your needle is stuck. It guides you thru on how to remove these issues.I highly recommend this book; the reviews on Amazon are worth taking the time to read. This book was recommended by some people on a social media platform. If you have a serger and are having issues or just want a lot of good general information this is what you need. I especially like the tension charts.

I love the Singer Sewing Reference Library series, especially "The New Sewing With a Serger". I just began using a serger a few months ago and wish I had this book before I purchased it. There is so much useful information in it, even though it is an older book. I really like that it also includes troubleshooting and issues you might run into when using a serger. Very helpful for beginners as well as people who may not know the technical terms for serging related techniques.
