Twenty-Four Hours A Day

Author is Richmond Walker (not Richard Walker)
Richmond Walker was an early AA member from Boston Massachusetts. Richmond compiled the book by rewriting an earlier work God Calling by “Two Listeners” author unknown, edited by AJ Russell. Richmond removed most of the Christian references and added his own experience, strength and hope. He organized each day into Thought for Today, Meditation for Today, and Prayer for Today. The 24 Hour book was published and distributed by author, with the help of his winter AA Home Group in Daytona, Florida and 10’s of thousands were sold by mail order. Around 1955 Richmond offered to give the book to Bill W. and AA but it was not accepted because the 12 x 12 book was being published and money was tight, and also because it was seen as too specifically Christian and therefore, exclusive. Richmond then offered to give it to Hazlden who accepted it and continued its’ publication to the present day.

Good devotional for sober believers.
We read these devotionals at the area AA meetings. I bought this for a new man, and older guy like me. The print is larger than the small hardbound and I'm glad to say he keeps it with him.

It's a very good publication with daily reminders to living a day at a time.......spiritually and through AA. Make no mistake, this book is used by people in AA and for people who believe in God/a Higher power. I think if you're a spiritual person suffering from an addiction and if you can get past the occasional references to being in AA and you substitute your addiction for alcohol it's a great daily reminder to take things one day at a time. And in reality that's all anyone really has whether you're suffering from an addiction or not.
