My wife bought this for my birthday and I have to say that the beauty, craftsmanship, and quality of this knife is much better than I could have expected. You can feel that this was made with top notch materials and the smith took complete pride in their art. Everyone who see’s this knife raves about the look and quality. I originally ordered this knife because I loved the aesthetic presented; black scales with aluminum/nickel pins, damascus bolsters and blade. While the knife delivers on performance and craftsmanship, the product I received does not quite match the photos provided by the item page. While the scales on the product photos are very dark/black, the scales on the knife I received are closer to beige/taupe [see first photo]. The fit and finish is good for the most part, with some minor gapping between the right scale bottom and the adjacent bolster. All pieces of damascus steel are well made and fit very well to the brass liner.The blade itself is made of gorgeous raindrop pattern damascus steel, with the 15N20 really popping out against the darker 1084HC. The entire knife was well packaged and oiled, covered in several protective layers of plastic before being placed in a cardboard box along with the leather sheath. On testing, the blade is quite sharp out of the box and will take an even better edge with standard sharpening tools.Overall, 4/5 stars on account of the handle color not really matching the official item photos, with a very small contribution from minor imperfections in terms of fit and finish.
